It is right to celebrate

The Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival is just over. It is a celebration of reunion. It is very glad to see people travel to return to their homes, reuniting with their family on this happy and auspicious occasion. The children carried all types of lanterns, while the adults engage in light conversation over Chinese tea. And together, they admire the beautiful full moon; eat moon cakes while rekindling family ties- such a wonderful and enjoying life.

Moon cakes are round, symbolizing of reunion and completeness. Therefore, eating sweet moon cakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival represents the family’s togetherness and living in sweet harmony. This occasion is celebrate with the intention to bring harmony to the society as a whole and it is always begin at home. It is not only enriching the arts and cultures, but also life.

Apart from the traditional moon cakes, the moon cakes nowadays are given a slight of twist, with unique flavors created to capture the hearts and taste buds of the younger generation, thus adding more colors into the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration.

Legend has closely associated with moon cakes that it originated towards the end of the Song Dynasty, when the Mongols invaded China. The common people suffered under their rule and hence they planned to revolt. To avoid their plans from being discovered, the messages were hid in the round cakes which were sent to every family.

On the 15th night of the eighth month, the people rose up in revolt and killed the Mongol invaders as they slept. Moon cakes are eaten on this day every year to commemorate this event. The round cakes of the past have since evolved into the present day moon cakes with filling.

It is really makes life more enriching and rewarding. Do celebrate all occasions to live its to fullest and meaningful.
