Security is always an issue especially for such any spectacular international event of such a scale. However, no country will leave it to chance, so do London. The issue of adequacy is always hotly debated.
The London Olympics seem to turn the city into a fortress as Britan is girding itself for the biggest peacetime security operation in its history featuring anti-aircraft missiles on rooftops and warship in the River Thames. This is real and don't be frighten if you see all these during your stay there.
These areas are heavily armed with more than 40,000 military and civilian personnel, apart from being backed by a huge intelligence operation. It has to be done , in the view to protect venues, athletes and millions of visitors from all over the world.
Accordingly, the surface-to-air missiles would be deployed across the capital to guard against Sept 11-style attacks. This clearly illustrate the point that the unfortunate incident of Sept 11 still leave a deep scar behind. Now, put security a huge concerns in many countries after this incident.
Now, you can rest assured that security has been a fundamental question to be addressed from the start. Till the time of writing, there were Only four homegrown suicide bombers attacks since the day after London was named host city on July 6, 2005. 3 underground trains and a bus, killing 52 people.
In a latest development, it was reported that 7 men have been arrested on suspicious of terrorist offenses. As such, we can safely infer that the place is highly alert to all these harmful activities, to ensure a peaceful atmosphere through out this entire event.
