FIRSTLY, let me thanks John Koh for his kindness to allow me to post this marvellous post
in this blog.
Monday has just passed by and now we have a nice Tuesday! Hopefully we can make this
world a tiny weeny bit better by doing some kind deed, for such things touches a person's
heart and it makes you feel really good. I had signed up for the "Run for Hope" event which
raises funds for cancer research through running. I think this was first started by Terry Fox
who originates from Victoria, Britis
h Columbia in Canada. He started the Marathon of Hope
run by running cross-Canada with only one leg so that funds can be raised for cancer
research. He lost his right leg to osteosarcoma which is a form of cancer and had to be
amputated. However he continued to run using an artificial leg and had run the equivalent
of a full marathon every day. Initially very few took notice but as each day he ran, he began
to generate curiosity and interest, eventually he became somewhat of a national star in
Canada. He eventually succumbed to the disease when the cancer spread to his lungs and
died nine months later. However his hope lives on and now more than 60 countries in the
world are doing the same for his hope to find cures for cancer. It has touched me when I
hear about his story when I was living in Canada and hopefully there will be others who can
do the same too. He has taught us, especially myself, how to live life to the fullest by
making this world a better place before he departed. Hopefully each of us can do some kind
deed too! Cheers and God bless all of you my dearest wonderful friends! Have a beautiful
and splendid day! ♥ ♥ ♥ ;-) ♥ ♥ ♥
