LISTEN, I know where you’re coming from!

At university I specialized in Accounting. I was always interested in owning my own business, but given a choice between entrepreneurship or performing exciting practical experiments in financial analysis, establishing sound integrated  system and business model to grow the business, I’m afraid the entrepreneurship won every time!

But when I left university and realized I wanted to be an entrepreneur, I knew I’d have to polish up my financial skill, wealth and mind-set. This course is the labour of my love from more than my 30 solid years of professional and personal experiences.  

So I explored, borrowed or bought every possibility to entrepreneurship I could lay my hands on, and spent many hours alone in studying, exploring and experiencing them whenever there are opportunities.

And even though nowadays I’m a successful freelance writer, trainer and entrepreneur, I’m still fascinated by financial know-how. I love nothing more than explaining in simple terms the intricacies of financial stories, wealth and mind-set to aspiring entrepreneurs.

...And that’s EXACTLY what I’ve done in my brand new training program ESSENTIAL FINANCE AND MINDSET FOR ENTREPRENEURS!

But before I tell you about that, let me introduce myself...

About the Speaker

James Oh is a financial, wealth and mindset specialist, thinker, leader and intensive researcher with nearly 30 years of professional working experiences in various industries such as trading, construction, aviation, movies investment and distribution. He is richly exposed in both local and international levelsparticularly in negotiating with the world leading aviation financiers, insurance and reinsurance brokers.

In the course of his practice, James had held senior specialist, supervisory, managerial and leadership positions by providing success orientedstrategic and operational plans to nurture the company he had worked with. His track record includes growing together with the founder of the company he worked with and get it listed and turned the company around when it was badly hit by the Asian Financial Crisis in 1986-7.

James has been featured in media multiple times such as the top investment magazine i.e. Smart Investor Magazine, Financial First, Money Compass, Corporate Voice Journal (MAICSA), FlyMe360, Hospitality Asia, Journal of Wealth Planning and Management. He has self-published eight books, specializes in value creation.  4 out of 8 books have been upgraded to second edition and beyond. Moving beyond the Horizon is the mind skill course he has conducted for in-house program with the Non-Profit Organization.

His recognition goes beyond the organization as he was invited to be one of the speakers at the Secretarial Conference in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 2 & 3 2015, a conference event organized by Camfori Training Provider that featured comprehensive secretarial and financial strategies and solutions featuring 10+ thought leaders and speakers.

He is actively involved in financial training programs for various local professional institutions, and economic updates with an international business club.

James graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the National University of Malaysia, and Laws degree from the London of University (UK). He is a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountant, Certified Professional Trainer with IPMA (UK) & PSMB Certified Trainer and Competent Communicator with Toastmaster International.

JAMES OH'S REAL EXPERIENCE

In view of much greater uncertainty, volatile and changing global business environment ahead, perhaps it is timely for me to share my turn around company’s experience with some of you with the intention to stimulate our thoughts and success oriented plans further. Sharing our experience, skill and insightful experience will benefit larger magnitude of people for a better world ahead.

I still recalled when I first heard about the turn-around guru, Lee Iccacoa who turned around the General Motors during the seventies when I was a student. I was amazed with this guru who inspired me to study this topic with much great extent and interest. I never expected that I would have a chance to put it into a real test.

During my professional service with a trading company, I was given an opportunity to work with the General Manager to turn around this poorly managed company. We were able to turn around the company with a small profit after about six months of hard work, commitment and effective strategic profit rationalised plans.

We have prescribed some success oriented formulae which stopped the company from bleeding further. Various measures such as stay focus on higher profit margin products; contain operational costs, shortening its cash conversion cycle and reduce the bad practice of the cannibalized machine. This bad practice in fact increases our inventories holding period, thus eroding our profit margin.

However, that General Manager left for a better offer from other company and leaving behind the company without a head. I eventually left the company after realizing that a new general manager was leading us to a clueless direction. The company was sold off to third party not long after I left.

No doubts, I didn't really complete my mission as a Turnaround Manager and my dream never end there. I was put into a real test again when I was with another new company when I helped my then employer to grow his private limited company into a publicly listed company. With such fantastic results, I was then promoted to be the Financial Controller of the company.

Thereafter, the company was badly hit by the Asian Financial Crisis in 1996-7 and this enabled me to put my partially incomplete mission and skills into a real test. Because of my strong desire, determination, direction, I managed to deliver the required turnaround result. Just imagine how I had acquired the new skills by laughing it out more often so as to release my pressures especially when my company was hit by numerous occasions such as receiving Section 218 notice, Seizure notice, etc.

Fortunately, my boss and then the owner who earned my trust over the years gave me full support by granting me more authority to effectively implement several drastic strategic and operational plans to keep the company afloat. There I had even take up new roles to sharpen my business development skills. It is a real rewarding and memorable for me to have such a wonderful experience as turn-around manager. This experience shaped me into a more-handy and complete person to face much greater challenges. The company finally continue its services and fulfill its other commitments. The rests are history.

It well demonstrates the point that no storm can last forever but only the tough people last. Again, it is timely for me to reflect what I had experienced so as to benefit larger magnitude of people at the time of greater challenges ahead in view that four out of five largest emerging economies, BRICS except India are declining in economic growth characterise by weakening commodities’ prices and numerous economic nourishment (Quantitative Easing) by many countries over last decade. This un-precedented economic challenge is the new global phenomenon that requires higher thinking skills to solve this new challenge. 

The hands on experience of the entire turn around process, was a tough but real sweet and rewarding job. I finally realised one of my dreams of becoming a turnaround manager in 1998, at the age of 38. Blessing led to more blessings I even took my new venture in internet to a new height. Again, I have seen the light in my new venture.

Today, my labour of love has been featured in the media multiple times namely in Smart Investor Magazine, Financial First (MFPC) , Money Compass, Corporate Voice Journal (MAICSA), Journal of Wealth Planning and Management (MFPC), FlyMe360 and Hospitality Asia magazines. I have self-published eight books, specializes in value creation. 3 out of 8 books have been upgraded to second edition and beyond.

With my passion in sharing my thoughts and knowledge in both the financial, wealth and mindset fields, I was officially appointed as a trainer and speaker with various local professional institutions, and economic updates with an international business club.

Thanks you again for dropping by in this inspiring and uplifting blog! It's really a blessing to meet so many kind people from travel industry here. It reaffirms that social networking is truly exciting, entertaining and enriching as it enables us to share our traveling experience, knowledge and thoughts in any new field with a few clicks. No matters how insignificant you may think, yet it is able to bless and benefit others beyond boundaries. Energy flows where intention goes. Intention is far important than any other form.

Again it well illustrates my point that there are so many kind people out there that are always ready to extend their support to you no matter what. What are you waiting for? Just take your courage to tap into and take full advantage of the available opportunity to bless the community you are living in. Mindful that thousand miles journey begin with a first step. Dream, explore and act is the way to reap what you sow.

In this connection, I write to express my sincere thanks to the FlyMe 360 for taking the initiative to invite me to write for their esteemed magazine which made me inspired by their initiative. I basically can’t decline their invitation despite this is new field for me. To give result rather than reason, I accepted and proceed to share some of my traveling experience with others so that they too can pick out something useful from 
my trip.

With this platform, I am also able to leverage its strength to reach out to public readers who like traveling as their leisure and hobbies in line with my mission to cross borders and boundaries. I can’t thank its team enough for allowing me to share some of my traveling experience and thoughts. Trust this is just the beginning of our collaboration and I hope to find more collaborators along my writing journey at the same time making their dreams materialised. Who knows we all can collectively collaborate with my other strategic partners to take our venture into greater height of success. Never underestimate the power of dreams.

Dear Friends, Followers and Fans,

Thanks everyone for your kind support and encouragement that enables me to have a great kick start for January 2016 to yet another awesome month for me. As usual, my article will be featured in the Money Compass and Financial First. You may also find us at profile

My flagship book, Looking beyond Financial Statements – Third Edition was also recently published in Smash words and just in time to be kicked off with my next course on this topic on 5th Mar, 2016 in Ipoh. See what an awesome month of January brings to me; blessings after blessings and I pray that you too will receive much more blessings from Above.

Wow! Best Jalan (Path) for Entrepreneurs & Intrapreneurs; sounds awesome with the tagline that we are all born entrepreneurs. This book serves as an eye-opener to the actual behind-the-scene of entrepreneurial world for those who aspire to be entrepreneurs. It also invites us to challenge ourselves whether we believe this statement or not. I must say that there is no coincidence and I consciously chose to believe the accuracy of the statement as I have also written a book of a similar nature before. Mindset Shift: Employee to Entrepreneur is the title of my book. It immediately ignites my flame working towards who I intent to be, in line with the saying, energy flows where intention goes.

The above event took place when a mutual friend, brought me to meet up with Kelvin It is a small world and he is another seasoned entrepreneur with solid 20 good years of experience. It was very timely as I was approached by a contact overseas in pursuit of this new field. 

Last but not least, I write to record my sincere thanks to him for giving me such a great book which discuss 5 best paths for entrepreneurs with much in-depth provoking thoughts.

This book is not only informative, but the readers will have much deeper understanding of the secrets of making any business successful especially in today’s fast changing and fluid world of government, business and community service. I have been so fortunate to have access to this book.
