My dearest friends,




The photo of the above school was taken recently when I made my trip back to my hometown, Penang. If you have read my preceding articles, you may probably realised that this trip has brought back my old sweet memories.






















This school has reminded me of my six good years of receiving my early school education there, throughout 1968 to 1973. I was only standard two when the racial riots happened at 1969. Thank God that my belated father had rescued me from my school.






















There are about five bus stops away from my house to this school. I recalled at times I walked back with my two schoolmates occasionally, whom I still contact till date. We used to walk back because there was only one type of bus we could take from our school to home, i.e. Bus No 9, which routes take about half an hour a trip. At that time, the weather was not that hot and we took about 15 minutes to walk a single way, through some short cut path.






















Three of us met in China when we made a trip about a year back to visit my friend's brother, who is still working in China. Whereas both of us are in Malaysia. Three of us have different faiths, despite beginning with the same faith. Both of us migrated to Kuala Lumpur about two decades ago, whereas his younger brother was working in Penang prior to his employment in China.






















I recalled many years ago, prior to my graduation from the university, I met up with several of my old school mates to organise a reunion. However, I did not join them because my lessons started much earlier than the reunion date. Thereafter, I did not hear from the rest of them.






















As I write and post this article of this school in the hope that I be able to contact these group of people again. Who know, we might take up other challenging work to track back the history of this unique school, which I think we all know very little of.

SKY PARK IN SINGAPORE

Hello everyone,

Today I am going to show you some lovely and amazing photos to lift you up. This is the photo of the Sky Park taken in Singapore. A small country with a big heart, have shown another great achievement in its own history. A country of little natural resources, and at one time, lots of people were doubtful of its survival. Today, it proves lots of people were wrong. Impressively, its national reserves surpassed US 60 billions without debt. This has made lots people wonder about its success. It reaffirms nothing is impossible.

Big congratulations to Singapore for successfully created another amazing invention in the mankind's history. Having a Sky Park at the top of the high building is not only an easy task, but making three high rise buildings serve as its pillars is a real tough job. Here, precision and detail planning need to carry out diligently. No single task can be ignored. Take your time to look at each of the photos below and share with us your feelings. I am sure everyone is looking forward to hear your views.


For those who have visited the place, we appreciate very much if you could share with us your real experience there. 

In Singapore, opened Sky ParkJune 24 in Singapore, opened a new wonder of the world. "Sky Park" Marina Bay Sands is located on the 200-meter height on the three skyscrapers, as if on three pillars. Here is the most expensive in the world of casinos, bars, restaurants, the largest outdoor swimming pool, 150 meters long and even the Museum of Modern Art.

TGB POSITIVE RESULT FOR THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2010

Hello Folks,


We are very glad to bring you the good news on Transmile, which had published its first quarter report with RM million. For some especially those who have been following our previous articles this is welcome news. To view it, please click at the title of this post.


Big congratulations to this management team who have been working very hard to turn it into positive zone and we sincerely hope this is a permanent one, which give hope to lots of people especially their own staff. In this instance, they need a praise as they have proved my previous perception on the team wrong. However, it affirms that this company still have profitable and viable business model. This is a good news to me despite that I was wrong in my judgment at that particular time, based on their unattractive presentation, in my view, at their Annual General Meeting. It clearly shows that we can't judge the book from its cover. What is more important now is how they should look forward and make more achievements in the year to come.


For those who are curious to look in details of their performance. I am very happy if they could share with us their findings, the strategies and action they have taken to overcome their challenges. I believe that through sharing, we all can learn from each other.


With such results couple with their strategies, I hope they are able to convince their lenders not to wind up this company. Moreover, this company still has a niche market to play. In this regard, I wish them all the very best.

WORLD CUP 2010 - IS THE FIRST TIME WINNER SPAIN 1 -0 OVER HOLLAND WITHIN YOUR EXPECTATION

Dear Folks,


Wow! What was just a wonderful moment as another record was made.

Spain for the very first time claims its historical win in regaining the World Cup title. Big congratulation to them and many of us agree that they really deserved it. Their hard work at last paid off handsomely.

This affirms any country can also achieve it so long as they never quit or give up. Learn from the Champ. They have sweet and sad stories to share. No surprise that they have a big celebration on the streets with hundred thousand of their supporters full of deafening sounds. They are so happy and full of emotions reflecting their happiness and joys.

To the losing team, Holland, they should celebrate too as they have tried their best despite not winning the game. It is a known fact that the second place will not be remembered but gaining the second place wasn't easy at all. Win or lose is part of the game. So failure too is part of the success. There will not be any success without failure. Accept the result and keep on improving, and I am sure success is on its way. Holland, work harder and see you in next world cup 2014. I am sure lots of people do enjoy watching your spectacular performances during this cup tournament. Thank you very much for contributing to the quality of this sport.

A thunderous roar erupted across the Spanish capital and fans danced in the streets chanting "Viva Espana!" as the country's first ever World Cup trophy sparked a nationwide fiesta.

The centre of Madrid was a sea of the red and gold national colours as Spain celebrated its nailbiting 1-0 extra-time win over Holland Sunday.

The deafening sounds of cheering, klaxons, firecrackers and cars horns rang out as the World Cup's perennial underachievers won the trophy in their first appearance in the final thanks to a late goal from Andres Iniesta.

In temperatures of 37 C (99 F), more than 150,000 supporters watched the match on massive screens in a giant "fan park" in a one-kilometre (half-mile) stretch of the city's main thoroughfare.

At the final whistle, the crowd chanted "Spanish, Spanish, We are Spanish" and "Viva Espana", at the start of a fiesta that was set to last throughout the night.

"We are very proud and very happy, I thought it would go to penalties, Iniesta saved us," said Raul, 18. "We deserved it after winning the European championship in 2008."

Said Adolfo, 25, "It's an extraordinary feeling, of happiness and nerves."

Others crammed into bars or stayed home for the match, which left the country paralysed Sunday evening.

Many were wrapped in the Spanish flag, wore the red team shirts or red wigs, or had their faces painted red and gold.

One young woman was disguised as an octopus, in tribute to Paul, the now famous clairvoyant cephalopod in Germany who predicted Spain's victory.

Thousands of fans had earlier poured into the capital from other parts of the country to soak up the atmosphere, many travelling all night and planning to leave the next morning after a night of revelry.

More than 2,000 police officers were on duty in the capital in case of incidents, along with medical teams.

Almost all towns and cities throughout the country installed giant screens for people to watch the match.

Even in Catalonia, a region with its own distinct culture and language and which has traditionally been disdainful of the Spanish national team, there was excitement.

Authorities in the Catalan capital of Barcelona set up a giant outdoor fan park for the final for the first time during the tournament, where authorities said around 75,000 people watched the match.

The crowd erupted with joy and waved Spanish flags, with many in tears at the historic victory.

Why I’d like to see Spain win

It promises to be a great game on Sunday, featuring two of the greatest footballing nations never to have won the World Cup. Spain and the Netherlands have been playing the most attractive football of all the teams in this World Cup, which bodes well ahead of the final.


The Netherlands has always been a great attacking team over the years with players like Cruyff and Van Basten. This current side is no different, with match winners like Robben, Van Persie, and Sneijder. This time round they have been very solid in defense, too, with every player working really hard for the team.


I expect the current European champions, Spain, to have plenty of possession. Xavi, Iniesta, and Alonso are so important to the midfield, and they retain possession and pick out passes with ease. I've also been impressed with their defense in this tournament, but they have quality all over the pitch. David Villa will want to not only win the World Cup but the Golden Boot as well.


I expect it to be close and hope for a few goals in this match. There promises to be lots of interesting duels all over the park, but I can't wait to see Sneijder up against Xavi, two of the world's best footballers.


It's shaping up to be a great match, and it might be that little bit of luck that helps decide the eventual winner. I would like to see Spain win, as I have many happy memories from living there, and I know how important it would be for the country. I have many friends there who would love to bring the trophy home to Spain for the first time. My boys also asked for Spain shirts to watch the final in, so I know who they will be supporting.


For many years, they have underperformed in World Cups, considering their level of talent, but this team has the look of a winner.

FIRE WATERFALL - RARE AND AMAZING

Happy day to you,


I am deeply delighted to see you here and guess today's article somehow will give most of you a lift, if not all.


It is an undeniable fact that it is not easy to sustain peak at all, however you must direct your mind to something you are pleased to read or see. In today's article, we bring you some rare amazing pictures to cheer you up especially those who are trap in bad mood. Not surprising to me because the world is full of unpleasant news. 


To prove my point, just flip to the newspaper and you will able to see my point. To align your mind to a positive zone, please view the photos below.

Can anyone tell me where you can see this happen. Yup you are right and it happens at Yosemite National Park, California, USA. But have you ever seen this real fire waterfall? The chances of seeing this is very rare because to take that shot, you have to be very patient and go at the right time. To find the real reason, please continue to read this article.


The spectacular fire waterfall view is created by the reflection of sunlight hitting the falling water at that particular angle. I was made to understand that this rare sight can only be seen at a two week period towards the end of February. To capture this rare event, the photographers have to wait and observe patiently till this occurrence happened. The occurrence is very much dependent on two key natural phenomenons, as explained below, that take place at that particular moment of time. It is like fishing where patience is the key of the catch.


First we have the formation of the waterfall from the water flowing from the melting of the snow and ice at the top of the mountain. It usually melts between the month of December and January. By the end of February there might not have much snow left to melt.


Secondly is the timing of the sunray hitting the falling water where the sun must be in that particular spot in the sky to give that effect. However, this will only occur in the month of February and at the short hours of dusk. Sad to say that if it is a day full of clouds or something blocking the sun, you can only take pictures of your own sorry faces on the waterfall. It coincides with the weather in the National Park at that time of the year which is often volatile and unpredictable. Hence, it compounds the difficulty of getting these pictures.


Someone did the hard part and we all get to see it. Thanks for their great job. So now, you know how rare is its photo and hope you appreciate these photos to your satisfaction and fulfillment.


I am glad to inform you that the above park was gazetted as a national park in 1890. It is very famous for its rugged terrain, waterfall and the century-old pine trees. It covers about 1,200 square kilometers and the "fire" waterfall of El Capitan is considered as one of the most spectacular of all scenery.

THE TAIWAN ART SHOW 2010

Hi! Everyone,

I am very excited to bring this great news to you and hope you too will welcome this grand exhibition at Taiwan Art Show.

What is so special about this recent Art Show. This Art exhibition show all works made of chocolate, which has always been associated with joy, love and romance! It has been linked to chemicals which cause happiness and indescribable waves of pleasure.

One of the rare exhibitions featured miniature chocolate replicas of China's ancient terracotta warriors. I am sure you will be amazed by it.

The show, called 'World Chocolate Wonderland', follows on from a previous exhibition of chocolate art in Beijing which drew more than 400,000 visitors according to its organiser.

The centrepiece of the show, which opens from July 3 to the late September, will be more than 400 mini terracotta warriors from the first Chinese Emperor's tomb each measuring 35 centimetres tall. This makes history of more than 2,000 years come alive. As such, this is a not to missed exhibition.

This creation illustrates the point that chocolate is not only edible, but also can be used as a material in art. This creation is a marvelous idea of its inventor who uses his creativity to make life more colourful and enlightening. Life is full of joy.

Other major display is the replicas of Taipei's landmark buildings, Taipei 101. This building, at one time was the world's tallest skyscraper, will also be on display alongside a chocolate mock-up of the Great Wall of China, which was first shown in Beijing in January.

To prevent these exhibits from melting, they will be kept in a temperature-controlled room. Please share your experience for those who have visited the exhibition. Thanks for sharing.

Below is the short briefing of :-



The Terracotta Warriors represent only a small portion of the eight thousand strong underground army buried in front of the Emperor Qinshihuang's tomb (r. 221-207 BC) to defend him in the afterlife. The craftsmanship attested by each of the statues is as stupendous as the scale of the project. So who was the Emperor Qinshihuang to merit such magnificence?

One of the most important rulers in Chinese history, this Emperor leaves a legacy as morally complicated as that of Peter the Great. For, like the Russian Tsar, he is as well-known for his contributions to the modern state as he is for sacrificing the lives of thousands of laborers to his visionary projects. Made King of the state of Qin at the age of thirteen, by the time he was thirty-eight he conquered the six neighboring states to unify China for the first time.

Although reviled for his tyranny, Qinshihuangdi is also admired for many radical and insightful policies which subsequent dynasties employed. To synthesize seven separate states into one nation, he standardized a common script and established uniform measurement and monetary systems. For effective government, he codified a legal system and replaced hereditary rulers with a centrally appointed administrative system. To improve industrial productivity he encouraged agricultural reforms and constructed many roads. And in an effort to limit the inroads of barbarian tribes, he supervised the construction of a defence fortification along the northern frontier, the first Great Wall. Although China benefited from these policies, thousands of Chinese workers died in completing this far-reaching public works program.

700,000 forced laborers were sacrificed to construct his tomb which was begun as soon as he ascended the throne. All workers and childless concubines were interred with him to safeguard its secrets. According to Sima Qian's "The Historical Records" written a century later, heaven and earth are represented in the tomb's central chamber. The ceiling, inlaid with pearls, represents the starry heavens. The floor, made of stone, forms a map of the Chinese kingdom; a hundred rivers of mercury flow across it. And all manner of treasure is protected by deadly booby-traps.

The main tomb has still to be excavated - partly because archaeologists are still uncertain of its exact location. Often Emperors amassed huge burial mounds simply to divert robbers' attention from the true site of their tomb. So the artificial mound that today marks the Emperor's tomb does not necessarily indicate the location of its wondrous central chamber. However, because high mercury levels have recently been reported nearby, archaeologists think they may, at last, have discovered it. The Terracotta Warriors, that you will see today, form just one of the many barriers the ruthless Emperor employed to protect his tomb for eternity.

The limestone and marble Kouroi and Kourai of the Greek Late Archaic Period (535-480 BCE) refute the claim that the Terracotta Warriors were the first free-standing statues in the history of world art. This, though, does little to undermine the ingenuity of the Terracotta Warriors' design and manufacturing process. For whereas the Ancient Greeks meticulously carved individual statues out of stone, the Qin dynasty project held all the problems of production on a mass scale. Tens of thousands of individual human and animal statues were manufactured within a series of processes that began with the molding of solid legs.

It was by constructing each of the hollow statues upon solid legs that the Ancient Chinese craftsemen solved the perplexing problem of how to make a statue free-standing. Hollow heads, arms and legs, made of coiled earth, were joined together with strips of clay and set upon the solid legs. After this rough model was assembled, a fine clay slip was added, and details such as eyes, mouth, nose and details of dress were carved into the clay while it was still pliable. Additional pieces such as ears, beard and armour were modeled separately and attached, after which the whole figure was fired at a high temperature.

SPORT EVENT AT MY SON'S SCHOOL, PUAY CHAI II PRIMARY CHINESE SCHOOL (2005)

Dear Readers and Visitors,

Here, I write to share with you about my eldest son's school's sport event at his primary school.

My eldest son was very anxiously looking forward to his school sport day during his final year at his primary school. He woke up very early in the morning on that day. First thing he did, was to look out to see the weather outside the house. Though, it was not raining at that time, from the floor he can sensed that it had been raining the night before. He then started to worry about the school field, where the sport events would be held. 

Before my family and I arrived at the school, the traffic was very much heavier than usual and I had to slow down my car on the road leading to the school despite it was about 100 meters away; the overwhelming responses from the school students, their parents and relatives were far beyond expectations. 

As a result, we were also having some difficulties in finding a parking lot outside the school compound due to insufficient parking lots, whereas the school’s compound car parks was purely reserved for vehicles of the school staff and invited V.I.P guests. 

We then had to walk a distance to the school, but we enjoyed it as the weather was cooling at that time. The ceremony of this great event was then opened by the V.I.P. guests, followed by a speech of the headmistress, before the final sports event commenced. 

Field was still wet and the lower ground was filled with pool of water. However, it did not stop the event from taking place. Contestants were very much attracted on the competition rather than the condition of the field – Good sportsmanship.

Before the sport event commenced, the cheering teams were dancing, singing aloud and followed by all sort of noises, which all of a sudden turn the quiet environment to a very much alive and cheerful environment. Everyone seems to join in regardless of their age, gender, races and status.

All sorts of sport events were held, namely 100meter, 200m, 300m individual, 400 m team, high jump, long jump etc. Three main categories for each event were organized. Prize presentation was held immediately after each event. Top three winners of every event were given a medal each. The champion will be awarded gold medal, follow by silver and bronze. Each team was cheered up by their hoo-la dancers, consists of the team female students respectively. All sort of noises were heard, from students, visitors, parents and school staff. This helps create a very much cheerful atmosphere. Winners and their supporters were happy and joyful, whereas losers and their supporters were either mourning or remained silent.

Although the weather was fine on that big and memorable day, people generally felt hot especially under the late morning sun. People here tend to open up their umbrellas to shield themselves from the sunlight. From far, it appears like an umbrella exhibition. Umbrella of all sorts and types, be it big, small, different kind of shapes and colors, which make the environment even more cheerful and colorful.

All the primary school students were divided into four main groups, i.e. Red, yellow orange and blue. All students were required to wear their team uniforms on that day regardless whether they were contestants or not.

Full of actions everywhere - be it contestants or non-contestants.

Photographers either from students’ parents, relatives were busily snapping photos everywhere. Of course, the invited press photographers were no exception. High technology gadgets like video camera and digital camera were also in action. 

Not surprising to see traffic jam around the school, caused by some anxious drivers, who has slowed down their vehicles to find out what was taking place at that school. This type of situation is a very normal happening in my country especially, when an accident occurs.

I noticed that each contestant was given a set of simple meal, which consists of a pack of fast food and a bottle of mineral water. However, majority of the contestants found the food provided to be delicious, including my son. At that time, they must have felt hungry and thirsty. They must consume a lot of energy for the event they are taking part. From their expression, you can tell whether they are exhausted or not. Their untidy and dirty uniforms also suggested that the field was full of patch holes, full of water collected from the rain that happened the night before.

The above event happened about five years ago, at the time of writing, and time really flies.

LET POMELO GIVES YOU A LIFT

Dear Friends, 

Lately I took my family back to my hometown in Penang with my newly bought Toyota Innova MPV. It is really a work horse for us apart from offering us eight comfortable adult seats. Though it is only 2.0 litres with bulky outlook, it does give comfort and sufficient power even going uphill in certain stretch of the journey and I give it a thumbs up for it with its cost slightly more than RM100 thousand.

The journey was a smooth one and the weather was absolutely good from my house to Ipoh, slightly more than half of my journey. As usual I visited the shop just opposite the Perak Cave to get some local delicacies and pomeloes, the shop of my preference as I find their fruit much better in terms of its sweetness and its price is reasonable. They are there for many years.

The pomelo (Citrus maxima or Citrus grandis) is a citrus fruit native to Southeast Asia. It is usually pale green to yellow when ripe, with sweet white (or, more rarely, pink or red) flesh and very thick pudgy rind. It is the largest citrus fruit, 15–25 cm in diameter,^[1] and usually weighing 1–2 kg. Other spellings for pomelo include pummelo, and pommelo, and other names include Chinese grapefruit, jabong, lusho fruit, pompelmous,^[2] papanas, and shaddock.^[3]

1.0 Buying tips 

The question now is how to choose the sweet and juicy fruit. Here, there is always a misconception that smooth and nice outlook pomelo will give you sweet juicy flesh. But, I am sad to say that this is not the case. What I have learnt from my belated father is that you should choose fruit that is heavy for its size, which indicates that the fruit is juicy. The outlook of the skin is not so important. What is important is to get thin and soft skin type. Go for fragrant sweet smell if you could sense it. But it is always wise to check and confirm with its seller about the sweetness of the fruit. If you think of buying extra fruits, then it is a wise move that you tried one of the fruits there before you buy the bulk of it. Some are sour in taste.  If you can, choose the pink and red variety which is slightly sweeter and more nutritious (because of the darker pigment).

Look at the tip of the fruit where its branch is attach to the tree, as the photo below. The dryness of the tip will indicate to you how long the fruit has been plucked from the tree. Usually they will keep it for two or three days before it turn yellow indicating its ripeness.

2.0 To remove its flesh creatively

Here, I am very excited to share with you on how to remove the flesh creatively, which I have learnt from my belated father, and keeping the peel intact. Here, you need to slice out top small portion, about one to two inches depending on the thickness of its skin, so long as you keep its flesh unhurt.  Then you make a few slots of cuts around the skin of this fruit so as to provide a way for you to detach its fresh from the skin until the whole flesh is detached. Thereafter, you shall then remove the flesh. See the photo below shows the fruit after it was detached from its skin.

3.0 Its Uses

The pomelo tastes like a sweet, mild grapefruit, though the typical pomelo is much larger in size than the grapefruit. It is good thirst quencher due to its juicy taste. Moreover, it has very little, or none, of the common grapefruit's bitterness if you get the sweet ones. But the enveloping membranous material around the segments is bitter and considered inedible. Thus this part is usually discarded. I was made to understand that the peel is sometimes used to make marmalade, or candies, then (sometimes) dipped in chocolate, but I have not tried that before. Here, the peel of the pomelo is also used in Chinese cooking. In general, citrus peel is often used in southern Chinese cuisine for flavouring, especially in sweet soup desserts. Alternatively, you can juice the fruit out. To get the most out of it, you should keep the fruit in the refrigerator. Quarter the fruit and peel off the skin, but leave in as much rind as possible as it contains the most anti-cancer agents. You may add honey if you find its juice too sour. I would have love to plant a pomelo tree as part of the greening of the environment which I advocate, but the unsuitability of the soil condition at my area prevent me from doing so.

4.0 Pomelo tree

Though I have not visited its farm before, the photos below taken from the internet may give you some ideas as to how the tree looks like and its blossom seasons. The fruit can just hang on the tree. To have clearer picture, please take a look at the photo below.

5.0 Health Benefits  

Some claim that the rind of pomelo contains a high amount of bioflavonoid. The bioflavonoid was discovered to be able to stop cancer cells from spreading especially with breast cancer patients, by ridding the body of excess estrogen.

Its juice has an acid taste, but it has an alkaline reaction after digestion. As such, it is therefore beneficial to the digestive system. Apart from these, Pomelo has pectin which is effective in reducing the accumulation of arterial deposits. Its high content of vitamin C also can help to strengthen and maintain the elasticity of arteries. 

Its other benefits include helping in the weight loss process, because the fat burning enzyme in pomelo can help absorb and reduce the starch and sugar in the body.

Pomelo can even help in cases of fatigue, diabetes, fever, insomnia, sore throat, stomach and pancreatic cancer.
