HOW TO DEAL INSULT EFFECTIVELY

Came across this beautiful story from the Buddha's life, where he teaches us how to deal with insults... feel free to share it with others as well!

Story:

One day Buddha was walking through a village. A very angry and rude young man came up and began insulting him. "You have no right teaching others," he shouted. "You are as stupid as everyone else. You are nothing but a fake."

Buddha was not upset by these insults. Instead he asked the young man "Tell me, if you buy a gift for someone, and that person does not take it, to whom does the gift belong?"

The man was surprised to be asked such a strange question and answered, "It would belong to me, because I bought the gift."

The Buddha smiled and said, "That is correct. And it is exactly the same with your anger. If you become angry with me and I do not get insulted, then the anger falls back on you. You are then the only one who becomes unhappy, not me. All you have done is hurt yourself."

"If you want to stop hurting yourself, you must get rid of your anger and become loving instead. When you hate others, you yourself become unhappy. But when you love others, everyone is happy."

The young man listened closely to these wise words of the Buddha. "You are right, o Enlightened One, "he said. "Please teach me the path of love. I wish to become your follower."

The Buddha answered kindly, "Of course. I teach anyone who truly wants to learn. Come with me."

TURN ADVERSITY INTO AN OPPORTUNITY

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL :

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less from people but more from yourself.

OLD DIMENSION

OLD DIMENSIONS

"A mind that is stretched by new ideas and new experiences never goes back to its old dimensions." Oliver Wendell Holmes.

How many of you agree to the accuracy of the above statement? I do.

"The time comes when you realise your old ways of doing, seeing and thinking are just too small for who you really are."Great if you do.

Have you ever had a time in your life where you realised that you have changed and progressed? There was so much you went through and so much you learned about yourself and what's really important to you. Don't be afraid because it is a good sign.

And, now you're totally different. Your mind has been stretched. You no longer see things like you used to ... and there's no turning back (which is a good thing) and you like to press on for more.

But, haven't you noticed that at times it can feel a little unsettling to be in unknown territory? The good news is that you are not alone.

Well, you know what I realised? One of the best things we can do is accept, acknowledge and trust whatever has changed because somehow-someway its leading us exactly where we want to be. Our minds were expanded for a solid and valid reason.

By doing so, it is very much easier for you to maintain your confidence, follow your truth and continue to take the steps you need towards the right direction.
