ASHLIEGH WOLFGANG - AN INTERVIEW

About the author:

Ashliegh Wolfgang first gained notoriety as founding member and vocalist for National recording artists "The Orphan Punks".

The Devil's Serum is his first foray into fiction writing, a love he has had behind the scenes for decades. Ashliegh claims writing influences from historical authors such Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft to contemporary authors such as Anne Rice and Clive Barker.

Ashliegh currently lives in the suburbs of Chicago, IL (USA) with his wife Heather and children Addison and Samantha.

Now, onto the interview.

When did you begin to write?

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, whether it was poetry or lyrics in my former life as a musician. I’ve always loved words, I’ve been writing in story form for more than a decade.

When did you first discover that you were a writer?

I think I’ve always viewed myself as a writer. I think people have an image of themselves that may or may not be what others perceive.  Even before I was ever content to release anything, I’ve always had notebooks of ideas and phrases, and just anything that I thought I may want to revisit later.

How much did you write before you were published?

A lot! I actually had finished two novels of biblical proportions that I wasn’t happy with, and eventually tossed out. It may have been the silliest thing I’ve ever done. I’m my worst critic and it took me years before I was willing to trust other people’s opinions in regards to my writing. I know that I will continue to edit and re-write until a story is pried from my hands if I don’t have someone else read it, fairly early on.

What is your favorite part of writing?

I’m a reader just like everyone else. I love having the stories develop on the page. I get excited and even surprised at what comes next. Sometimes I find that I can’t sleep if I’m in the middle of a book because I need to know what is going to happen next, just as I would if I were reading someone else’s book.

So far what is your worst criticism/attacks, and how you overcome it?

I’ve received some less than stellar reviews as I’m sure all writers experience. It’s painful when you’ve put part of yourself out there, and you feel like you’ve been rejected. I believe it’s just like anything else in life, you have to do things that make you happy and in the process you’ll make others happy as well…just not everyone. I think all writers have to realize that they are never going to appeal to everyone at the same time, so there is no reason to ever try. Appreciate the ones that love what you do, and ignore the ones that don’t, although it is often easier said than done.

What is the accomplishment that you are most proud of?

It’s a cliché I know, but I’m most proud of my children and their accomplishments than of anything I could ever achieve in my professional life.

Wow! The next book sounds really good too. Are you planning on writing more in the years to come?
I just released The Devil’s Apprentice this week, which is the third book in the Ramblings of the Damned Novella Series. I currently plan to have two more installments released before the end of the year. Beyond that series, I have several partials and even more ideas that I expect will be published at some point.

What does your writing process look like?

It’s fairly messy. I have character notes scribbled on everything…backs of receipts, unopened mail, etc.  I imagine if you could look inside my head it would be very similar looking.

How do you come up with title of your books?

With this series I’ve been very conscious of having similar titles and similar covers, so it’s easy for readers to know the books are related. The Devil’s Serum, The Devil’s Folly, The Devil’s Apprentice…I’ve kind of locked myself into a theme with these titles so it actually makes it fairly easy to title them. So far I have never had a title until I was ready to publish. I write the story first and then find a title that fits, I think if I had a title first it may influence or restrict my writing.

Can you enlighten us a little more about your books?
The Ramblings of the Damned series is a collection of journals from Christian Laurent. Christian was born in 1870 in the American Midwest and at age 40 he finds an ornate silver flask and drinks the mysterious contents. He wakes up, several days later to discover that the drink has given him immortality. So it’s a retelling of the love, loss, confusion, and eventually understanding of a man destined to outlive virtually everyone that he comes into contact with.

Is there anything else you would like your readers to pay special attention in regards to your book, which you have not mentioned above?

While all of the books are centered around the same characters and the stories are cohesive, each book focuses on different points of importance to the protagonist and therefore I think the feel of the books change dramatically. The Devil’s Serum (Book One) is absolutely a love story more than anything, while The Devil’s Folly (Book Two) has substantially more action and adventure. The Devil’s Apprentice (Book Three) combines all of the previous elements while refining the overall story and purpose.

When do you plan to publish your book 4, if applicable?

I hope to publish Book Four (currently untitled) of the Series in early November at the latest.
How many volume of books for the above series ?

I currently have a five part story arch planned but I can’t say for certain that book five will be the last we see of the characters.

Tell us your guided principle that governs your life? How you cultivate these values?
Stay positive. It feel so much better to be appreciative for the things that go your way than to be discouraged by the things that don’t. Everyone knows someone that causes the lights to dim when they walk into the room because of the permanent cloud that they allow to follow them around. Sadly that feeling can be contagious and before long that person is wondering why everything seems so doom and gloom. A smile can be every bit as contagious and before you know it, everything seems a little brighter.

Do you have any advice for writers looking to get published?
Write, write, and write…if you believe that your writing is good enough then who’s to say it’s not. The most famous authors in the world have been rejected multiple times and received scathing reviews. The only person that can stop you from being successful…is you.

Anything else you want to say?

Thanks so much for the opportunity to be interviewed and allowing me to introduce my books. I hope your readers will consider giving them a read, and if they enjoy them I hope they’ll tell anyone that will listen.

Thank again for joining us today. Let us wish him a fulfilling day everyday.

CHANGE IS NECESSARY

CHANGE IS NECESSARY

DOING THINGS THE SAME WAY, YOU WILL NOT GET DIFFERENT RESULTS
BY CHANGING YOUR APPROACH, YOU WILL SURELY GET DIFFERENT RESULTS
YOU WILL GET THE SAME END IF YOU DON'T CHANGE YOUR MEANS
SO CHANGE IS THE SOLUTION

CHANGE IS NOT EASY
HOW TO PROGRESS WITHOUT CHANGE
DOING THE SAME THING AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT ANSWER, YOU MUST BE CRAZY
LETTING GO IS COSTLY

HOLDING BACK IS EVEN MORE COSTLY
REFUSING TO CHANGE WILL DEFINITELY BRING YOU DISASTER

BY CHANGING YOU WILL BE SMARTER
ADAPTING CHANGE IS NECESSARY

ACCEPTING IS THE SURE WAY
TO DEAL WITH IT

AND CONQUER IT

JUST A MATTER OF PERCEPTIVE

JUST A MATTER OF PERCEPTIVE

Life is pretty simple,

Enjoy and savour every moment of your life.

If you expect an apple,

but you get lemons, make a lemonade.

If you are on your way out

and it starts to rain, dance with it

Because you, at least,

don’t have to water the plants.

It is a matter of seeing things in perspective.

So always stay positive,

Have faith and enjoy your life.

If today you are picking the grapes, tomorrow you will be drinking the wine.

The benefits may not be immediate

BUT obvious AND REAL, believe

And everything will be fine

No real problems and struggles will be.

LIFE IS JUST A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE.

SLEEPLESS NIGHT

SLEEPLESS NIGHT

I can’t sleep DESPITE BEING TIRED

But I know that I should

So much on my mind

I want life to be good

I can’t stop thinking

Of all that is wrong

I could make IT;

OR write it

into a song

AND SING IT along

Till my mouth get tired

Even though I’m so wired

Serve you with my talent

So I bid you good night

Be well and may you be safe

Sweet dreams to you

May life give you good things

Wishing you all with blessings

In all that you do

LIVE WITH THE HUMAN PURPOSE

LIVE WITH THE HUMAN PURPOSE

I am good, but not an angel.

I do sin, but I am not the devil.

I am just an ordinary man in a city

I always seek to do things differently

Giving my best is my way

Giving love and to be loved is my way.

That's what I learnt from the above

So that I live with human purpose

GREENING THE ENVIRONMENT THROUGH REDUCING, REUSING AND RETAINING RAIN WATER

Hi Lovely friends,

As we all are aware, the worsening of global warming has been substantially attributed to weather change. As a result, we have flash floods and abrupt drought more frequently than what we have seen before. Therefore, it is time for us to unite as One Force to address this critical issue handsomely and wholesomely. Sad to say that without any drastic action, we will not improve the current status.

Although I am living in the tropical area with relatively higher average rainfall, there is no exclusion to these impacts. As such, we need constantly explore means to rectify this adverse situation, directly and indirectly. As a matter of fact, global warming likely cause changes in the rainfall patterns. It will bring shorter but heavier bursts of rain that had caused flash floods and soil erosion in certain areas especially areas without adequate drainage systems.

No doubts, certain areas in Malaysia have recorded a remarkable increase of rainfall in the last five years. Both the commercial and household water consumption has also been increasing steadily for the last century. Naturally, the usage of water is direct proportionate to the increase of climate warmth.

Hence, numerous of new ways of reducing, reusing and retaining rain water have been discovered over the years in order for us to reduce or eliminate occasional water rationing exercise as well as considerable price increase by the municipal water supplier. This is because we are no longer have such a luxury of consuming endless supply of water despite of having a relative higher average rainfall per year than most parts of the world.

This offers an opportunity for rainwater harvesting and recycling to play a significant role. Their benefits are numerous and not only limited to the financial aspect. At the same time, they also help towards building a sustainable future growth.

Append below are other benefits of rainwater harvesting and recycling for your consideration and action:-

a)     They are also provide water for non-consumption purpose, such as flushing toilets, washing laundry, watering the garden and washing cars. Hence, reducing water bills.

b)    They can also serve as an alternative water supply during water supply rationing or water supply interruption. This offer great opportunity for those areas with such a high interruption.

      c) They serve to reduce or mitigate the possibility of flash flood.

      d) It is excellent for watering the garden and filling ponds since it is chlorine free.

Last, but not least, it will enhance the value of the property with such system. Please feel free to add to the above list which we may have missed out and not thought of.

Thank you in advance for your kind participation.

With the above, we trust it is worth our effort and time to implement this effective measure to cushion this adverse effect to an extent. Let us start greening the environment to show our care and love to this planet.

If we don't, who else will do it. Please spread this article to others so that they also can take part in it.

Thanks

HOW TO DELIVER THE GREATEST REVENGE

If you have the courage to admit when you’re scared; the ability to laugh even as you cry; the nerve to speak up, even if your voice is shaking; the humbleness to ask for help when you need it, and the wisdom to take it when it’s offered-- you have everything you need to get yourself to a better place.

A HOUSE IS DIFFERENT FROM HOME

A HOUSE IS DIFFERENT FROM HOME

A house is different from a home
Money can buy a house, but not a home

A house is made of wood and stone,
but only love can make a home.

Home is more than precious stone
Home sweet home

House is a hell of difference from Home
So do money and love.

Money cannot buy a home
Only love can make a home

SELL YOUR WAY UP (SPEECH)

SELL YOUR WAY UP (Nia Mind the rejection)

What is the most important skill you need to have in order to

become successful in life?

(Wait for audiences’ responds and acknowledge them)

To me, it is SELLING.

If you want a promotion, you need to sell yourself intelligently. If

you need to ask a girl out for a dinner, you have to sell yourself

handsomely.  In fact anything we do, involves selling persuasively

During my university years, I yearned to be a CEO of a company.
I started to ask, “What should I do in order to achieve that goal?”

I got a unanimous answer, “starts a career in SALES”

I started to apply for a sales job in many multinational companies

like, Nestle, Dutch lady, Sony & JVC. Interestingly all of them

told me to wait and see.

I was dejected, disappointed & demotivated.

However, I noticed, most of the people who went for the interview looked and talked the same.

Suddenly, it dawned on me that I have to uniquely SELL myself. I decided to do something different.

During the next interview, I prepared a promotion card & a name cards (show the audience the 2 items)

I passed the name card to my interviewer and when asked to describe about myself, I said, “I believed in 3 principles, “number one, “smile and the world will smile with you” Number two perseverance, passion and confidence drive the sprit to greater height. Number three, do not do unto others if you do not want others to do unto you.”

The interviewer was stunt and said, “You are the first person who came in an interview with a name card & promotion card. I liked your attitude & creativity but we can only pay you  800 per month. I thought for awhile, “ermmm, 800 ringgit ar, OK.”

During my first day at work, I was surprised to see I was the only

graduate. The rest were all form 5 school leavers.

After a few months working. I asked my boss why I was under paid. He said, “You are the most highly paid among the new hires.”

I was wondering is it my unique selling skills or my willingness to be paid below market value that got me the job.  NIA MIND….. I mean never mind.

When I first started in sales, I learned all the product knowledge and presentation skills.

Every time I see a customer, I did 3 things. Present, present and present. Amazingly, all the customers said, “interesting presentation and we will call you back”. However, all the customers never call me back.

I went back to see my boss, Mr Ngu, “boss, what went wrong. “ My boss said, “Do you know what NGU stands for.” I said, “It’s your surname, Mr Ngu.” “Nope, NGU stands for Never Give Up.” Go back to your customers but this time do it differently. Remember, “before people buy anything from you, they must buy you first”. “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care”

I took his advice seriously and did it differently.

This time, before I present I CONNECT with the customer. I started to send the right signal, synchronize my body language and get the customers to talk more. In short I started to connect with my customer personally.

Then, I started to ask MORE question about the Organization, Goals & challenges they faced.

Then only I started to PRESENT the solutions and benefits.

As time went by, I started to get calls from my customer and my sales result not only skyrocketed but moon rocketed.

Today, I’m an owner of my own Human resource training company called, “Edu Action.” I have achieved my career goal of becoming a CEO of a company.

I’m earning 20 to 30 times more than what I first got.

So, ladies and gentlemen, if you want to achieve something great in your life, choose a product or service that you believe in and embark in the journey of sales and you will achieve an amazing results. Go on and SELL

BABY grabs surgeon!!!
This is Unbelievable.
Read before looking!
cid:1.2028394747@web81905.mail.mud.yahoo.com
Please read before viewing the picture---it's worth it.
A picture began circulating in November. It should
be 'The Picture of the Year,' or perhaps, 'Picture of the Decade.' .

The picture is that of a 21-week-old Unborn
baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who
is
being operated on by surgeon named Joseph Bruner.

The baby was diagnosed with spinal bifida
and would Not
survive if removed from his mother's womb.

Little Samuel's mother, Julie
Armas, is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta

....

She knew of Dr Bruner's remarkable
surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt Univ Med Ctr in Nashville , he performs these special operations while the
baby is still in the womb.

During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via
C-section and makes a small incision to operate
on the baby. As Dr Bruner completed the surgery
on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but
fully developed hand through the incision
and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger.

Dr Bruner was reported as saying that when his
finger was grasped, it was the most emotional
moment of his life, and that for an instant
during the procedure he was just frozen, totally
immobile.

The photograph captures this
amazing event with perfect clarity The editors
titled the picture, 'Hand of Hope.' The text
explaining the picture begins, 'The tiny hand of
21-week-old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges
from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of
Dr Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for
the gift of life.'

Little Samuel's
mother said they 'wept for days' when they saw
the picture. She said, 'The photo reminds us
pregnancy isn't about disability or an illness,
it's about a little person. ‘Samuel was born in
perfect health, the operation 100 percent successful.

Now see the actual picture,

and it is

awesome....incredible....

And

do, pass it on. The world needs to
see

this one!

UNFORGETTABLE EVENT

Hi Valauble Readers,
Have you ever experience any incident which leaves you a long deep scary, BUT BEAUTIFL memory?

I do have such an INVALUABLE experience. It all began in May 1969, when my late beloved father came to my school at Tong Sian Primary School, and requested that I be dismissed from the class immediately which was very much earlier than my normal dismissal time. I was very puzzled at that time and abided to his instruction, without knowing what the hell was happening. I quickly crawled into his fish bucket and he then carried it and tighten it at the back of his bicycle.

The shaky message of "Son, Listen very carefully. What I want you to do is to run and save yourself if any adverse event happens along our way home. Remember run quickly as possible and don't look back and save yourself. Understand?" I just nodded my head in agreement without any thought of it.

This is my first experience being hidden in the fish bucket. What I know next was that our journey to home was a rocky ride with my father's record speed.

Fortunately, we arrived home safely. Thereafter, my siblings and I were told to skip our classes from that day onwards. We were then living in our darkest time. To add insult to the injury, I also needed to help out to get our daily supplies from the nearest sundry shop during the permitted hours under the emergency rules imposed on the Nation.

On one occasion, my mother and I were running like wild dogs during our way back home after getting our daily supplies from the sundry shop. We heard the police's siren and we were told of all the unpleasant things if we were caught by the FRU outside our premises.

Out of my curiosity, I peeped through the windows to observe the situation whenever there was an opportunity for me to do so during this darkest period. I was shockingly surprised to watch live the real uncensored incident which was not suitable to my age. Shocked and saddened to watch one cyclist being brutally killed by a crowd of slightly more than 10 people with bottles, swords and iron bars. Bottles after bottles were smacked at the victim's head, one after the other, followed by swords, iron bars and whatever the attackers held in their hands. It was so horrible and tragic to watch an innocent and unarmed victim trying every effort to save himself from the crowd.

Although I saw from a distance, I can imagine how much pain, the victim felt. No matter how hard he was moving always from that crowd. The crowd was not bothered and continually attacked him until he finally fell to his death.

Such agonising and antagonising event did not end there. Subsequently I overheard from my parent's conversation with our relatives, neighbours and their friends that they lost their innocent friends and their family's member either being killed or burnt to death. This was the first time I discovered about the most ugly action of my nation.

The more I hear about all these tragic incidents, the more my curiosity. This has constantly serves as the driving force for me to explore further for a solution. On my journey to find such a solution, I even took lots of initiatives to read the numerous main political parties' history till todate. However, this unforgettable event turn out to a great blessing to me as I began to seek solution, I found my great heroes such as Confucius, Buddha, Jesus etc..

Couple with my other colourful, beautiful and wonderful tribulations, I finally discovered that LOVE is the solution to conquer these hatred feelings of mankind. With this in mind, I embarked on several initiatives to spread this message through my social networking in the hope that I can chip in and play my part, no matter how small is my action. Cumulatively, it will see some impact one day.

I also strongly believe that all these incidents were not by accident, but there are reasons for it. Time will reveal the truth anyway. So, what is important to me now is to keep sowing the seeds, just like many others have been doing it. By doing so, we are surely have hope and keep things moving on.

Please feel free to leave comments on the articles. I love hearing from my readers.

Kindly share this article on Facebook or Twitter if you have found it useful. Thanks; I really appreciate it!
