Chess King was born on February 25,1961- a tiny baby with a weight of 4 lb. 4 oz. He was small and many of his relatives who visited him at that time thought that he might not survive. He was a fighter even as a baby and he managed to overcome his weight in just a month.

He was very interested in chess and his talent and enthusiasm was spotted by his class teacher, Mr. Ho, who was also the school’s trainer. With his training, he represented his school in both the individual and team events in the Majlis Pertandingan Pulau Pinang, under 12 chess competition. He then focused his attention on his education graduating with a degree in Accountancy and worked as an Accountant. He was subsequently promoted as the financial controller.


As a strategic business partner, he had helped the founder cum C.E.O to grow the private limited company to a publicly listed company in the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange. He also worked closely with his team to turn around the company when it was hit by the ASEAN Financial crisis in 1996-7.

However, he met with another challenge when he failed to obtain justice for his stillborn son. It was the turning point in his life when he embraced God and developed the spiritual strength to overcome his depression, as reflected in his book, Letting Go and Moving Go, after his first book, Better Than The Best.

In his mid-fifties, another challenge surfaced when he was diagnosed with Stage 3 stomach cancer. He had to undergo surgery to remove 60% of his stomach and underwent chemotherapy. At the moment his main aim is to remain healthy and he hopes to share his journey to everyone through writing.

Chess King is currently working as a Value Creation Specialist by crafting his personalised path as an Author, Trainer and Entrepreneur specialising in Financial Literacy, Wealth Creation and Thinking Skills.

From a deeply desperate cancer patient seeking treatment to an enthusiastic warrior thriving for a purpose filled life, he took the brave and bold step to share his journey publicly and regularly with the intention of uplifting others through writing.

He is able to do so because he has faith in God.
