REFLECTIONS

Reflections
Greetings from Petaling Jaya
Come every festive season be it Christmas, New Year or CNY, there will be plenty of well wishes posted via whatsapp, FB or other media. It makes me wish that every day is an auspicious day. Let us make it a new year resolution that we will send someone a positive and well-meaning greeting every day to light up his / her life.

Out of the blue, we receive a greeting from an acquaintance whom we have not heard from for many years. It is a good reminder that such a person exists and its time to rekindle the relationship. Bless you all!

My 2017 experience can best be summed up by just one awesome word. WOW!!!

What was the biggest triumph and smartest decision I made in 2017?
To review and re-edit one of my existing book as well as to complete my ninth book: Cancer: Fear or Inspiration in the midst of undergoing treatment.

What was the greatest lesson I learned in 2017?
The same as the last 30 years. Walk in opposite direction against the norm. This strategy is fantastic!

What is my biggest piece of unfinished business in 2017?
Was asked to scale up my existing business speedily and aggressively.

What would be my happiest moment?
To be able to find sponsors to launch my books officially.
Develop my landing page, E-Courses and strategic position of all my social media.

What other expectations am I looking forward to 2018? Develop my landing page, E-Courses and positioning all my social media strategically. New hobbies or interests:
Dancing and Swimming.

What will make me most joyful?
Love and live happily as well as healthily.

What will be my theme?
Go with the flow naturally and freely.
Hope you too learn something cool.

With unconditional love,
James Oh

LIFE IS AN EXPERIENCE

Greetings from Malaysia,

Life is full of experiences both good and bad. If you got a good experience consider yourself lucky. If not just take it with a pinch of salt and consider it as a learning experience. The more experiences you have the richer and more colourful is your life. A life full of experiences will give you more stories to share.

My 6th chemotherapy provided me a new experience. I had failed to get a twin room but was fortunate to get a single room about 200 square feet. I paid rm 238 which to me, is rather steep for the facilities that came with it.

I have no words to describe it but if you care to see the condition of the room see the attached photos.

For me, this round of chemotherapy has created another new record as the entire process took more than 12 hours i.e. from 5.30pm to 9.00am the following day. What if I have opted for daycare? Does it mean that I have to sleep on the deck chair? I have no answer for that as I have yet to experience it.

Sad to say the facilities, as well as the physical appearance, need upgrading and proper maintenance. Could it be due to overwhelming response to seek treatments there or a lack of funds? Or the items could only be replaced if they broke down completely?

Therefore do not come with high expectations just appreciate what you have been offered. Hear and see no evil. Be thankful that you have a dedicated specialist to treat you, other things are not important.

As usual, at the end of your stay, you are given the opportunity to give your feedback. To me what is the point of wasting the time to fill in knowing that they are not listening at all, looking at the surrounding evidence? I rather save my time to do what I supposed to do.

After all have another 3 more months to go.

Cheers n hope that 2018 will be a better year.

Thanks. Remember your feedback is invaluable.
With unconditional love,
James Oh

CANCER: FEAR OR INSPIRATION

Update on Cancer: Fear or Inspiration

Greetings from Malaysia,
I am deeply delighted to announce that I have completed my 9th book, Cancer: Fear or Inspiration. I will be forwarding the first draft to my newly appointed editor for editing since she has returned from her overseas trip.

With this, I would be moving closer to accomplish another one of my many missions. Praise the Lord for sustaining me and giving me the strength to achieve it as I struggle with my treatments.

Moving forward I have approached several sponsors to get my books published in hard copies for local reads.
I hope that the sales of this book will be good. One is for me to be able to provide funds for my two children to complete their tertiary education and the other to raise funds for the Cancer community ADA. It is my vision to prove to the world that we, C..... patients can be able to be financially independent and do not need to live on donations to maintain our lifestyle as we were used to previously. I am sure this will give us confidence and we can proudly lift up our heads and shout to the world with delight, " Kami Boleh" meaning "We Can".

With two my books to be launched in 2018, I am sure the new year will be a great year for me. PTL.

Please support me and other C... patients. Tqvm
May 2018 be a great year for you too.

Please leave your comments here.

With unconditional love,
James Oh

CRAB MENTALITY

Crab Mentality
Very happy day to everyone,

What is crab mentality? It is a way of thinking best described but phrase "if I can't have it, neither can you.” This metaphor reflects a bucket of live crabs, some of which could easily escape but are prevented from getting out to ensure the group's collective demise. This type of mindset is both disruptive and devastating if applied to the human behaviour. This happens when members of a group will attempt to reduce the self-confidence of the other members who have achieved success far beyond theirs, out of envy, spite, conspiracy or competitive feelings, to halt their progress.

In lift you up, we are doing the reverse. We adopt the attitude that if we can’t give you a lift then we won’t behave like the crab and pull you down and crush you. We will always endeavour to do our best to ensure that your well being is taken care of. Your well being is our utmost priority.

Stay alert and keep away from the crabs lest you be harmed.
Treat your mind to be a beautiful garden with pretty blossoms rather than weeds.

With unconditional love,
James Oh

MY STORY AND LIFE PURPOSE

This is My story and Life purpose

Greetings from Malaysia,

This toiletry set, which was supposed to be complimentary with the room from UMSC, but was only given to me when I requested it. Well, I guess they practised the policy: "Ask and you shall be given". Do not be shy and open your mouth to request politely anything that you need.

It certainly brought me back to the past. It happened more than ten yrs old when I was on a business trip to the UK. For the first time in my life, I got to travel first class. It was then that I was given a toiletry set which was made of leather and far nicer than the present one. It was one of the most memorable gifts that I have received. To this day I still use it whenever I travel.

The reason I was sent for this business trip was to negotiate with the insurance company for compensation for the loss of our plane. At that time I was assigned to take charge of the company's insurance portfolio due to my past experience of successfully claiming a consequential loss due to flood. The trip was nevertheless fruitful as my team succeeded in making the claim despite it was initially declined by the underwriters as they cited the breach of the named pilot clause.

However, we have to access all the possibilities and loopholes before we managed to win the case.
Not only did we get the compensation but also managed to gain on currency conversion. When we bought the plane the ringgit against the USD was strong but when we made the claim it was the reverse. It was definitely a windfall for the company and truly a blessing for me.

After this successful claim, we began to place our fleet strategically so as to enjoy finer rate without much adverse impact on our overall fleet due to our loss' record.

As a result, I have to shoulder heavier responsibilities and fly there annually to negotiate directly with the world’s major insurance underwriters and brokers. It was a very challenging and fulfilling job which I enjoyed very much. A sweet memory that I will never forget!

I spent the longest years of service in this company. This is the company where I worked very hard with my cohorts to transform it from a private limited company to a publicly listed company in Bursa Malaysia. However today it had lost all its glories and has been delisted from the Bursa Malaysia due to its failure to restructure.

However, due to differences in viewpoint, I had to take up both roles as financial controller cum internal head. The top management insisted on letting me head both the risk management and internal audit departments which I felt will put me in a situation of conflict of interest.

The reason they cited for putting me in both positions was that I was well versed in both the operation and processes. Moreover, the monitoring system was implemented and adapted by me based on my previous experience from the past companies I worked with. I must thank God for guiding me on the right path as subsequently, the company got into trouble with the authorities though at that time I have not accepted him as my savour. God is great.

After a series of trials and tribulations, I finally accepted Him. His Grace strengthened my weakness and I managed to bounce back and will let Him lead my hand forever. This is my story and my life purpose as well.

Trials are temporary if we have faith. Place your trust in Him who can lead to salvation.

Cheers and feedback is welcome,

With unconditional love,
James Oh
