Dear Readers and visitors,

One good news that we need to share with you is on the promises of our Almighty and Loving God. He is a Sovereign God and yet had upheld every promise made since day one till today.

He is the God who loves each and every creation of His, particularly human beings, which were created out of His own image. God so loves the world that He send His only Son to redeem our sins.

From the above actions, they demonstrate well that God wants our passion for the supernatural part of Him that lives in us to grow to maturity for our good. Therefore, we must acknowledge His love and His best wishes for us. We can only reach His dream through our faith in Him, which serves as the bridge that will take us to the destiny. He destined those who believe in Him and even is ever willing to guide and coach us to achieve it, out of His grace provided you are willing to abide to Him. As such, it is crucial important to believe the promises of God - no matter how unbelievable they appear - and you will eventually see evidence of what before, you could only imagine. This is what the faith is all about.

Faith is just like any skill which you need to exercise in order to strengthen and sharpen it. The challenges that are faced in our lives are meant to strengthen us, a similar process you have to go through so as to be a skillful sailor, where he needs to encounter storms and other challenges to sharpen his skill. So, remember that whenever you are faced with challenges, please do not be afraid, but rely on Him and let Him guide you to overcome it, so that you could gain maturity. Be mindful that I can do everything through Christ who strengthen me. Phil 4:13.

Let us together pray in His wonderful name that He uphold us every moment of our lives. Amen.

THE PASTOR AND HIS SON

A good reminder of God's Love.
Every Sunday afternoon, after the morning service at the church, the Pastor and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and hand out Gospel Tracts.
This particular Sunday afternoon, as it came time for the Pastor and his son to go to the streets with their tracts, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring down rain.

The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, 'OK, dad, I'm ready.'

His Pastor dad asked, 'Ready for what?'
'Dad, it's time we gather our tracts together and go out.' Dad responds, 'Son, it's very cold outside and it's pouring down rain.'
The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking, 'But Dad, aren't people still going to Hell, even though it's raining?'
Dad answers, 'Son, I am not going out in this weather.' Despondently, the boy asks, 'Dad, can I go? Please?'
His father hesitated for a moment then said, 'Son, you can go. Here are the tracts, be careful son.'
'Thanks Dad!'
And with that, he was off and out into the rain. his eleven year old boy walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing everybody he met in the street a Gospel Tract.
After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking, bone-chilled wet and down to his VERY LAST TRACT. He stopped on a corner and looked for someone to hand a tract to, but the streets were totally deserted.
Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the sidewalk to the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the bell, but nobody answered. He rang it again and again, but still no one answered. He waited but still no answer.
Finally, this eleven year old trooper turned to leave, but something stopped him. Again, he turned to the door and rang the bell and knocked loudly on the door with his fist. He waited, something holding him there on the front porch! He rang again and this time the door slowly opened.

Standing in the doorway was a very sad-looking elderly lady. She softly asked, 'What can I do for you, son?'

With radiant eyes and a smile that lit up her world, this little boy said, 'Ma'am, I'm sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that *JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU* and I came to give you my very last Gospel Tract which will tell you all about JESUS and His great LOVE.'
With that, he handed her his last tract and turned to leave. She called to him as he departed. 'Thank you, son! And God Bless You!'
Well, the following Sunday morning in church Pastor Dad was in the pulpit. As the service began, he asked, 'Does anybody have any testimony or want to say anything?'

Slowly, in the back row of the church, an elderly lady stood to her feet. As she began to speak, a look of glorious radiance came from her face,

'No one in this church knows me. I've never been here before. You see, before last Sunday I was not a Christian. My husband passed on some time ago, leaving me totally alone in this world.

Last Sunday, being a particularly cold and rainy day, it was even more so in my heart that I came to the end of the line where I no longer had any hope or will to live.
So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the stairway into the attic of my home. I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in the roof, then stood on the chair and fastened the other end of the rope around my neck.

Standing on that chair, so lonely and brokenhearted I was about to leap off, when suddenly the loud ringing of my doorbell downstairs startled me. I thought, 'I'll wait a minute, and whoever it is will go away.'

I waited and waited, but the ringing doorbell seemed to get louder and more insistent, and then the person ringing also started knocking loudly. I thought to myself again, 'Who on earth could this be? Nobody ever rings my bell or comes to see me.'

I loosened the rope from my neck and started for the front door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder.
When I opened the door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes, for there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy I had ever seen in my life. His SMILE, oh, I could never describe it to you!

The words that came from his mouth caused my heart that had long been dead, TO LEAP TO LIFE as he exclaimed with a cherub-like voice, 'Ma'am, I just came to tell you that JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU.'

Then he gave me this Gospel Tract that I now hold in my hand.
As the little angel disappeared back out into the cold and rain, I closed my door and read slowly every word of this Gospel Tract. Then I went up to
my attic to get my rope and chair. I wouldn't be needing them any more.
You see---I am now a Happy Child of the KING. Since the address of your church was on the back of this Gospel Tract, I have come here to personally say THANK YOU to God's little angel who came just
in the nick of time and by so doing, spared my soul from an eternity in hell.'
There was not a dry eye in the church. And as shouts of praise and honor to THE KING resounded off the very rafters of the building, Pastor Dad descended from the pulpit to the front pew where the little angel was seated.
He took his son in his arms and sobbed uncontrollably. Probably no church has had a more glorious moment, and probably this universe has never seen a Papa that was more filled with love & honor for his son... Except for One.
Our Father also allowed His Son to go out into a cold and dark world. He received His Son back with joy unspeakable, and as all of heaven shouted praises and honor to The King, the Father sat His beloved Son on a throne far above all principality and power and every name that is named.

I've been very fond of drawing and designing since young. On paper, I enjoy the freedom of expressing my ideas through the creations of my artworks. As I grew older, my interest in writing started to grow as I realize that language is a form of art as well, and through writing, ideas and thoughts can be conveyed precisely. I have faith that this passion of mine would serve the community by expressing ideas that are beneficial to the society.

I'm very lucky because I'm a fast learner. With this blessing, I continuously seek knowledge and fully utilize and apply them creatively not only in my future career but also in life. I acknowledge that there will be challenges ahead in life, however, when problems emerge, I don't back down, instead I would see it as an opportunity to grow. I would reason and analyze carefully because I believe that there are always solutions to any problems.

Like they always say, we cannot live in solitude. Hence, I too believe socializing with others gives us opportunity to sharpen each other by sharing ideas and receiving feedback. I am easily adaptable as I can interact well with people and maintain good relationship with all parties. Through years of education and my bilingual family background, I manage to hold both the values of the east as well the west, providing me with more than sufficient resources to nurture relationship with people of diverse background, sharing ideas and opinions to improve each other in various fields, in the mean time, improving the whole community. Therefore, I firmly believe that I can play a significant role in the society base on my unique strengths and talents.

Dear friends,

How many of you have heard of the phrase "Cash is King"?I believe many of have. Why is cash King? This is because cash is the lifebloodof any company. It reflects the financial health of your business. The in andout of your cash flow will be the determining factor on how you manage yourfinances. If the inflow of money is not sufficient to cater for the needs ofthe business, it may somehow affect the viability of the company. Hence, cashflow is a key element of the success of any business. Without cash flow, theprofits are meaningless.

Some profitable business may even end up in bankruptcy or be woundup, should the amount of money flowing out is not comparative to the amount ofmoney flowing in. Companies that has no good management of cash flow may not beable to make the investments necessary to compete, or may be forced to pay morein its loan activity.

Because of its crucial importance, I would like to share some tipswith you on how to manage the cash flow effectively:

1. Make a projection of cash flow over a periodic of time.

Always determine how much the inflow before determining the future cash to bespent. Pay accordingly to the priority especially if there is a heavy penaltyfee imposed should you not settle on or before its due date. Interest andoverdue charges may be very expensive and this is an added expense for yourbusiness.

2. Cash collection needed to be reviewed and improved constantly.

To encourage your clients to pay on time or earlier is a wise move.Alternatively, you may request some down payments for ordered purchases, ifapplicable. Review and monitor receivables regularly and identify those thatare about to become due.

3. Try not to pay debts earlier than due date even if there iscash available for you to do so, always on due date.

Establishing a good pay master track record with your suppliers will helpyou build goodwill for your company. This will assist you in obtainingmore flexible and better payment terms and conditions.

4. You may make good use of the surplus funds at any period of time to earnsome interest income by placing them into the money market. The quantum ofinterest income generated is very much dependent on the period of the availablesurplus fund and the interest regime at that particular time.

Therefore, it is very rewarding for anyone who is willing to workhard and smart to accomplish strong cash flow. To do so, you are required toanalyze and manage your cash flow more effectively and fruitfully.

By now, you are able to see how cash flow will determine failure and success ofany business. Sometimes one will have to a pay heavy price for just stretchingthe payment terms.

VERY WARM WELCOME TO THIS UPLIFTING BLOG.

I was born at only 2kgs. But m ynickname is Tua Tow in Hokkein, meaning BIG HEAD because my head was relativelybigger than my body size Tua Tow Tua Tow,sounds cute right? But you can even call me Tua Tow Kay (bigboss).

I began to work at 12 and discovered that Education is the only viable way forme to break off from poverty chain. Since then I strived to followthe foot steps of those successful people and noticed that some of their backgrounds are even worse thanmine. If they can achieve success, why can't I?

I began by choosingto play the winning game like chess. I was the Captain who led my primaryschool inparticipating at the Majlis Sukan Sekolah-sekolah Pulau Pinang under 12 Chess competitions in 1973. I achieved anexcellent track record for the entire tournament event.

However, due to some unfortunate and unforeseen event, I could not progress further andsince then I seldom play the game as itreally hurts me.

I also needed to help my mum to sellslottery tickets to supplement our house's income . Aftermy mother’s serious accident, I took over and maintained the business till a few monthsbefore my M.C.E. examination, which is SPM now.

I then painfully discontinued this smallbusiness to focuson my study, which she disagreed with in view of our tightfinancial situation, which I could understand. Luckily, many years later, she understood that I made the right decision.

Another blessing came when I obtained a Grade One in my M.C.E.But my joy was short lived because I could not obtainplacing in Form 6 at government (public) school, despite many rounds ofappeals. I even went to see our Penang Chief Minister, late Tun Lim Chong Eu, but he did not have time for me.

But I didn't despair norgive up. Throughmy good grades, I got a job as Laboratory Assistant assigned toWorld Health Organisation and Sumitomo projects. The late Professor from the BiologySchool, Universiti Sains Malaysia encouraged me immensely which sparked my desire to pursue my dreamfurther.

At that time, I took LCCI intermediate book-keeping classes. Again, due to direfinancial constraints, I opted to do self study and not attend ing night classes, which the teacher assured me that I would FAIL . But I passed the examination with my hard workand fortitude . I began to aspire to become an Accountant.

Anyone here love tiger prawns? Interestingly, prior to my LCCI exam, I alsohave another project of rearing tiger prawns with a friend. “So who says man can’t multitask ?”

From the professor's encouragement, I then persevered to pursue my Form 6 in Private School with my earnings from my part time job.

But anotherbattle began because allsubjects were in Bahasa Malaysia and my year was the last batch for MCE where Science and Mathematics were in English . Determinationand Staying focus helped me to overcome this challengesapart fromhaving to give tuition to 4 school students 2-3 hours Everyday except Sunday. Thefees I earned just barely covered all my schoolexpenses and my monthly bike installment.

Without any income for about 3 months prior to my examination as I stoppedgiving tuition, my onlyoption was attendingclasses without paying school fees and beingprepared to face whatsoever consequence.

Fortunately, my STPM result got me into a local university that we could only afford. I was so exultant because I made it at last afterall the hassles and obstacles.

From my turbulent life history, I learnt that wedictatethe path,nothing can stop us so long we don'tgive in and give up.We just need to be accountable, decisive,committed, audacious and stay focus as we stride along our life journey.

We strongly believe that we do not just pick up things we like doing by chance along our lives. What we are trying to say here is that we discovered what you are good at because we were meant to discover it. There is no coincidence, but rather that your legs are meant to walk instead of your hands. This is because it is created with that intent in the first place.

Therefore, it is appropriately right to say that your unique gifts are hardwired into your system just like the rest of your organs are assigned to function that particular blueprint integrated with the rest and function as a whole, so to speak.

Through these specific talents and gifts, you are able to define and determine your definite purpose as to why you are here, which you have been created for in the first place. What is in you that is distinctly different from another living human being. In fact, it is rarely possible that what you bring to the table has been duplicated since time began.

That is right! This “purpose” is a very serious business and that's why we bring this topic into today's discussion with the intention that you discover your real purpose if you have not done so. Otherwise, sad to say that everything else is wrong. We say so because it is just like working with a broken compass when you think you are heading North, but actually you are not. In short, if you are unsure which direction you are heading, you are just wandering aimlessly.

Without our purpose identified firmly in our mind, we will wander through life. We will not feel that we are “in the real flow, the way it supposed to be.” As such, it is imperative we recognize what it is that we are good at and what we really love and enjoy doing.

Our real purpose in this lifetime is to do the thing that we truly love, and not just to fulfill other's purpose which is not ours. As such, you are not to let non important issues distract your attention at all when you are sorting out your real purpose.

The truth is that you can earn money at anything through Resources, Ideas, Capital and Expertise. Once you have determined your purpose, you would not even have to think hard on how to earn money. This is because once you are doing what you love, you will be guided, as if, by an unseen hand, heading to the right direction and everything will just falls into place - Real and not imagined.

Therefore you must be cautious not to be mislead by the "truth" that the key to your life is to settle for the “safe” thing that will bring in money. But the real secured key, in fact, is to do what you really love. Fall in love with an idea or activity is begin to live actively. That is the breath of life! That is the purpose of life.

VERY WARMWELCOME TO THIS UPLIFTING BLOG

The abovephoto vividly illustrated the beauty of this island with a huge building at thepeak, believe to be a tourist area, which we have no clue to its location. Assuch, we write to invite those who are familiar with this place to come forwardto share with us more information on this island. The building appears inclinedto the oriental type and more likely to be in the Asia Pacific.

Before I forget, please tell us the first thought that comes to your mind whenyou first see this picture. Are you willing to spend a couple of days toventure into this Island? The view looks likewindows just below the building, there appears to be a huge resort with amagnificent view of the sea side. Sounds interesting and challenging, right?Tell us more what you can see from the above photo.

The island seems to have one huge building at the peak and may have some accessroads from its bottom, which is very far above the sea level. It should be keepits dwellers safe from flooding. More information pending from the commentsprovided below, which we believe could bring the island to be more lively.

What we arenot sure is how the access road is being monitored should the sea level risesabove it. Or may be it is very unlikely event to happen. As such, we shouldrule out such possibilities. Currently, we do not have much information on theisland and no clue about it and urge someone who has such information to stepforward and share with us. Thanks for your kind action.

The island isserved by the cable car from the other island situated next to it. This maystrongly suggest that it is of a popular tourist area where it wellconnected with cable car to another island. This may not be surprise that itmay not be far from the mainland. This is just our wild guess.

POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE FIRE

We decided to broadcast this news below with the belief that it may save other lives. As such, we urge you to read this news seriously and it is very vitally important to let our loved ones be aware of this lesson from the unfortunate news below.

The news that a well known family in Mequon lost their 25 year old son (Arun Gopal Ratnam) in a fire at their home on June 4th, which I received from an old classmate of mine.

This is what happened. He graduated with MBA from University of Wisconsin-Madison two weeks earlier and came home. Had a lunch with his dad at home and decided to go back to clean up his room at school. Father told him to wait and see his mother before he goes back for a few days.

He decided to take a nap while waiting for his mom to come home from work. Neighbors called 911 when they saw black smoke coming out of the house. Their 25 year old son Arun died in the three year old house. It took several days of investigation to find out the cause of the fire.

It was determined that the fire was caused by lap top in the bed. When the lap top is on the bed cooling fan does not get air to cool the computer and that is what caused the fire.

Uneven surface of the bed sheet has blocked the air intake vent below the CPU fan. When the laptop is placed on a flat surface i.e. on desk/table, there is a gap between the desk surface and the base of the casing to allow air to flow/suck in through the air intake vent by the CPU fan to cool the CPU. This paragraph is added in by sender for better understanding of the scenario.

He did not even wake up to get out of the bed and he died of carbon monoxide (CO) as a result of the fire.

The reason we decided to broadcast to the world is that using our laps top in bed is very common. Let us all decide and make it a practice not to do that again. Risk is real. Let us make it a rule not to use lap top in bed or put computers on bed with blankets and pillows around.

FACELIFT FOR PENANG ANTI-JAPANESE WAR MEMORIAL

Very warm welcome to this Uplifting Blog.

I am deeply delighted to report with the latest development on RM 400,000 face lift for Penang Anti-Japanese War Memorial, which was published in the Star dated Oct 21, 2011. This facelift is carried out in conjunction with its 60th Anniversary and the said work was expected to be completed by Nov 2011 and the photo will be uploaded at the later date.

This memorial was originally built by the Penang China Relief Fund, a Penang-based fund-raising organisation, in memory of the Penang Chinese who died under Japanese occupation in World War II. Sad to say that the said organisation was disbanded in 1952, the responsibility of managing the memorial was then passed on to the Kong Min School board of trustees.

The whitewashed obelisk stand proudly for more than a few decades, commemorates the almost 800 people who are buried nearby. They are comprised of martyrs who joined the anti-Japanese resistance movement in China during 1930 to 1940 as well as the victims of Japanese atrocities during the occupation.

It is worthy to note that three (3) features would be added to the memorial to enhance its historical value and tourist appeal, in addition to give honour those who have scarified their lives for this noble movement. The two additional display panels would be installed at the entrance to the monument with inscriptions introducing the monument in Malay, English, Chinese and Japanese.

What is more important of this memorial is it reminds us of the painful lessons of the war so that if we were not will now be aware of its importance to preserve peace and harmony in the world. As such, we must be cautious not to be manipulated by irresponsible leaders to kill our peers.

Through this, we at Lift You Up, like to ensure sustainable world peace, we must always advocate "love is colourless." Be mindful of the rule that division through colour is an act undermining the Divine Law, which is of the higher law.

To get pure and clean ice :
Boil water first before freezing.

To make the mirror shine:
Clean with sprite

To remove chewing gum from clothes:

Keep the cloth in the freezer for an hour.

To whiten white clothes:
Soak white clothes in hot water with
a slice of lemon for 10 minutes

To give a shine to hair :
Use one teaspoon of vinegar on hair, then wash hair.

To get maximum juice out of lemons :
Soak lemons in hot water for one hour,
and then juice them.

To avoid smell of cabbage while cooking:
Keep a piece of bread on the cabbage
in the vessel while cooking.

To avoid tears while cutting onions:
Chew gum.

To boil potatoes quickly:
Skin one potato from one side only before boiling.

To remove ink from clothes :
Put regular white toothpaste on the ink spots generously and let it dry completely, then wash.

To skin sweet potatoes quickly : Soak in cold water immediately after boiling.

FAMILY ROOT OF OUR FOUNDER

Very warm welcome to this Uplifting blog,

It is a very good practice to put on record, our family roots. In this connection, please permit our founder to take this opportunity to record his family roots while he is still around, with the objective to complete as much as possible during his life. He will update you should he obtained any additional information on this. He always welcome anyone who possesses any of his family's information and encourage the person to either contact him or provide in the comment below for him to complete his mission. He may take his mission to China to trace back his ancestors.

His Grand father, from his father's side, Oh Kong Sze, and his father are the first generation who migrated to South East Asia to find their fortune. They are from the Province of Nan Aun, the Hokkien Province of China. His grand father died of cancer, not long after the founder's birth. He was a merchant, who left behind few leased properties for his grand mother to survive by collecting rental income to sustain her remaining life after his death. His grandfather had carried out a business venture in Penang.

His grand mother was also from China. Both his grand parents brought two of their children to Penang whereas the other son, somehow landed in Indonesia. They had managed to locate him after more than a decade of efforts and time finding his whereabouts.

His father migrated to Penang as a teenager and he does not know his actual age and his age was manipulated in order to obtain the necessary traveling documents to migrate out from China to Malaysia. He was involved in various trades and passed away in 2002 at the age of about 70 young.

His mother born in Penang and was given away to her adopted parents after birth. However, she managed to trace back her biological parents after her adopted mother passed away. Her biological mother survived and nearly surpassed 100 years, had passed away about a decade ago. Append below is her death certificate for record purpose.

Though both his parents are illiterate, one thing they are proud of is the fact that five out of seven children received first degrees from public universities. The highest record of achievement in his dwelling place in Penang. Today, 5 out of seven have migrated to Selangor to earn their living at the time of writing, leaving behind his eldest and second youngest brothers in Penang.

His eldest brother began work at the age of below 13 years old, dropped out from the school, to supplement and support our family at that time. He is blessed with the most number of children, 3 daughters and two sons, amongst his siblings.

Followed by his elder sister who is blessed with one son and two daughters. Two of her children are in England, one working whereas her daughter is studying in one of the universities in UK.

Our founder is blessed with two sons and one daughter. Currently all of them are in the private school and college. He hope that one of his children will take over to maintain this blog one day for the rest of his descendants and the whole world at large.

His younger brother blessed with one son and one daughter. Both are currently studying in the public secondary schools.

Another younger brother is blessed with one son of less than a year old.

The other brother younger than the one before him is still single whereas his youngest brother is married but has no child yet.

THANK GOD FOR SAVING MY MOTHER'S LIFE AGAIN

Very welcome to this Christian blog which givehonours to Him.

I write to share with you another testimony tohonour Him again for answering my and others' prayers for saving my mother'slife about a week ago.

This time, He has again answered my calls forletting my mother to be discharge from the hospital after her admission for ashort span of two days despite her being unconscious from an overnight sleep.Fortunately, my younger brother, who was staying with her in Penangat that time, noticed something amiss after he failed to wake her up numerous attempts. Immediately, he called the ambulance to take her to thehospital. They then discovered that her sugar content level of 1.7 was far toolow for a diabetic patient like her. As a result, most of her body turned numband stiff. Thank God for my brother's awareness at that critical moment.

Thereafter she finds it difficult andhesitates to stay with me or my other siblings in Kuala Lumpur as she does not have friendshere. At the same time, her present health situation does not warrant her tostay alone. As such, I have to rely on Him to convince her to change her mind,knowing her firm stand and belief of being independent. Thank God again forturning this nearly impossible thing to a reality with ease. That makesme cry out with joys in my heart.

My mum had scarified lots for us and I stillremembered how she told white lies to make me finish the "Big Pau", meatBun, she bought for me with the extra money we both earned from our daily lottery tickets sales during my teenage years. At the very firsttime I was so glad and finish off the whole "Pau" and accept her word on the surfacethat she had taken her portion, which was not really the case. I learned mymistake from the first very first time and start to think hard of a way tooutsmart her. Finally, I was successful in making up excuses to keep a portionfor her. At that time, I began to cultivate a thinking habit and creativemanner to leave a certain portion for her. Thank God for putting I in such awonderful situation to pick up all these good habits and best practices thatmake me achieved what I am today. I felt very blessed after this MIGHTY andLOVING God revealed to me one by one.

It took me nearly several decades to find Himexactly as recorded in the Scripture, You seek and you will find. I must admitmy life had ups and downs since I was born namely born under weight of only 4.4Lbs, always sick during my childhood, and etc. Now, Lord has revealed to methat all these had moulded me to be better and stronger. He also made merealise that the more I submit to Him, the more He will lead me and go throughthe setbacks without much pain. Now, I am so comfortable with Him and even letHim to use me as one of His vessels to spread His Word, which I could not doso, without Him. I believe and am convinced that I'm not doing this alone.

I really feel that He is the One who has set mefree and gives me the wisdom to do what I am doing. The peace, joys andhappiness I received are from Him and I feel so secured despite my age isincreasing. Yet the strength He has given me is so great that I feel veryenergised and tireless. I must say He is keeping and maintaining me well and Iam very grateful to Him. In short, He has convinced and convicted my heart tosubmit to Him and let Him lead me. Thank you Lord. I share all these with youbecause of Him whom made me realised the true meaning of the life He has givento me.

Here, I write to praise Him always and stayfocus on Him to complete my walk by faith and not by sight. The sweetness ofthe fruit I enjoyed all these while is from Him, which is far beyond words.As such I encourage you to join in the walk because I want you to taste itsfruit yourself.

However, the truth of knowing ourselves is not an easy task and it is sad to say that most people do not know themselves well enough to attain the success they seek for.

To recognise and acknowledge the above truth is the first step working toward this direction. This is the main gist of our today's discussion. We need to constantly remind ourselves this Key Fundamental Success Ingredient, which is often be overlooked by majority of not so or successful people, if we construe that success is a journey rather than an end. To obtain its maximum advantages for your own benefits, there are special tools designed for you to discover your personality, your potential and your weaknesses. This is critically important for you to know more of yourself so that you have the right mix to stretch yourself to your fullest potential. The Big Five model is a comprehensive, empirical, data-driven research finding. Identifying the traits and structure of human personality has been one of the most fundamental goals in all of psychology. The five broad factors were discovered and defined by several independent sets of researchers (Digman, 1990).

[2] These researchers began by studying known personality traits and then factor-analyzing hundreds of measures of these traits (in self-report and questionnaire data, peer ratings, and objective measures from experimental settings) in order to find the underlying factors of personality. It was further advanced by Ernest Tupes and Raymond Cristal based on work done at the US Air force personal laboratory in 1961.

The Big Five factors and their constituent traits have then be summarized as (OCEAN):

• Openness – (inventive/curious vs. consistent/cautious). Appreciation for art, emotion, adventure, unusual ideas, curiosity, and variety of experience.

• Conscientiousness – (efficient/organized vs. easy-going/careless). A tendency to show self-discipline, act dutifully, and aim for achievement; planned rather than spontaneous behavior.

• Extraversion – (outgoing/energetic vs. solitary/reserved). Energy, positive emotions, surgency, and the tendency to seek stimulation in the company of others.

• Agreeableness – (friendly/compassionate vs. cold/unkind). A tendency to be compassionate and cooperative rather than suspicious and antagonistic towards others.

• Neuroticism – (sensitive/nervous vs. secure/confident). A tendency to experience unpleasant emotions easily, such as anger, anxiety, depression, or vulnerability.

Basically, it has been evolved from the most common type of personality profile, which based on 4 factor models, which also evolved from the ancient times where people categories human behavour with 4 elements. AIR, FIRE, EARTH and WATER.

Here, the question arises - what is Personality?

According to Oxford dictionary, Personality is the Characteristics and qualities of a person’s feeling and behaving. Personality is an individual’s characteristic and distinctive patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. Dr Shirley Lim, founder of RCI (Research Communication International) and PEAKS Psychometric personality profile technology said personality is the soul of our being, the intangible part of what we are. Personality identification and management help us develop by choice, not by chance.

c) presents his product and plan with energy, passion and conviction that will captivate the clients.

d) listen attensively, gives appropriate and timely compliments, encouragements and edify others.

e) helpful, humble and honest

f) opens to client’s new ideas and suggestion.

g) creative in handling client’s enquiries and objections.

h) calm and handled stress very well. He always stay in control of the whole selling process and will not react unnecessary.

From the above explanation, it is naturally for those have the high score in PEAKS will do well as a financial planner. Right? Well, what it means was that someone with the high PEAKS score will have a natural fit to be a successful financial planner if he chose to become a financial planner. However, it doesn’t mean if your score is lower in any of the dimension, you will not be successful. What it means here is that you need to stretch yourself to reach the job requirements. It is very much different from one person to another on how much you can stretch your personality to suit the job requirement.

The most ideal situation is to have a natural fit between the job peak performance and an individual personality and traits. If there is a gap on the demands of the job and the personality, then it needs necessary support to fill up the gap should the gap is not too wide. When the gap is too big, there is unnatural fit and the person will be easily burn out on the job. Job performance will be affected and will take a great effort to maintain even at an average level of performance. Therefore, it is important for an individual to understand his personality and innate potential, so that he can align with his innate potential, balance job demand and personality resources, create synergy in self and others.

The next big argument is whether the product competency or personality more important? Some financial planners argued that product competency is more important than personality given the fact that they are managing the finances of the clients. There is no doubt that competent professional knowledge on all aspects of finances is absolutely important in planning and managing client’s financial future. But, be mindful that you need to engage well in order to build trust with your client first before going into any meaningful planning activities. That’s why sales professional always quote 90% of the time is on relationship building and the balance of 10% is on product selling. But, that doesn’t mean product knowledge is not important. When it comes to product selling, you need to know 110% of the product knowledge because the customer attention span is very short and you need to offer accurate and professional answer to handle it promptly and correctly.

As a financial planner, you are in a very privilege position to deal with your client’s confidential financial position. Relationship and trust building with clients is the starting point of your successful financial planning practices. The big question is how much do you trust yourself? Trusting yourself is the starting point of building sound relationship and also making sound decision. Your level of personal trust will determine whether you trust others. In return, others trust you or not.

By now, you can see clearly why you need to take the first step to understand and trust yourself better. By taking a personality profile test, you are doing yourself a great favour because it is an objective and unbiased way of knowing yourself MUCH BETTER.

Thereafter, it is not sufficient to put you ahead, but one step closer torelearn what you have learned. Here, we are able to view thing at a widerperspective and glad to say that you are then able to drive it to the directionyou desire and stay focus on your ultimate goal. This will then guide youthrough in a much easier way. Through practice, you will make the necessarychanges and acquire the new habit. Through these changes, we are able to make progress.

By doing so, youwill remove the top most obstacle in your mind. Thereafter, you may ask further:-How to make it happen?

2. DO NOT LETTRADITION PARALYSE OUR MINDS

Many of us; knowingly and unknowingly; are in a way conditioningour minds by the surroundings events we are exposed to. In a way, we are alsoinfluenced by such circumstances. If left un-check, we will be drag into thebeliefs of the majority who aimed to please the society we are living in. As aresult, we are also ingrained with such behaviour and are hesitant to change.Sad to say that only changes can bring us progress.

Conversely, we need to be receptive to new ideas, so to speak. Be experimentingwith new ideas and do learn from your mistakes. Never be afraid of makingmistakes. Mistake actually shows us the right path to our discovery. ThomasEdison made 5,000 mistakes before he invented a light bulb. As such, I like tosay that there is no failure in itself. Mistake indicates that this is not theright path to Success. You see now that failure is a small success in itself becauseyou have discovered that this is not the right path. Try other path, this isall about. Hope I have not confused you. If I do, please continue to read. Youmay be clearer by the end of the article. If not, give it a deep thought.

3. BE CREATIVE

Just by believingin it will not bring you success, unless you put it into action. Then, how canCreativity come into play? Please share with us your thoughts. To me, it comesin many ways:- it not only helps us to find an intelligent short cut to solveour problems in hand; it may also give us solutions to overcome the constraintswe are currently facing such as compliance to the legal requirements; resourcesand etc. It may also prompt us to re-look into other possibilities such as theprocesses involved. Here, you may reinvent the wheel or re-engineer theprocesses involved or the methods such as automation and etc.

Creativity offersus ways to solve our problems. Be mindful that if you want to stand out in thecrowd, then creativity is one of the possible ways. Another thing I need you torealise is that creativity is crucially required in all professionals namely Law;Accountancy; Architects etc..

In view of the keen competitive marketing environment, creativityand innovation play a very important role in the business especially for thoselooking for a sustainable growth model.

4. CONSTANTLYREVIEW AND INCREASE YOUR CAPACITY

Feeling is a stateof mind, so is Capacity. Frequently asking yourself to increase your capacitywill open doors to your minds to look for intelligent shortcuts. As some of youmay be aware that I started to work at a very young age, in order to find timefor my study. I learn to search for intelligent shortcut namely multi-taskingwhich I learn from my mum to save time. To achieve perpetual success inanything, you need to do better (in term of its processes, control) ; andincrease the output ( in term of quality and quantity of its output.) In short,To do less and get more.

5. CONSTANTLY IMPROVING

To achieve perpetual success is to constantly asking yourself todo better than yesterday. Be mindful that self improvement has no limit. Listento its answer in echo. Ask and you will get it.

No surprise that life learning is inevitable.

6. CONSTANTLYVIGILANT

Be observant at all times. Ask and listen whenever you can so asto ensure that you make sound decisions. Listen more and speak less so that youdo not miss out on any opportunity. Observe and learn from those successfulpeople, which were well advocated in Napoleon Hill's book, Think and GrowRich. If you have not read, please do yourself a favour and get it now.

7. STRETCH OURMINDS TO ITS MAXIMUM

To achievethis end, you need to constantly stimulate your mind. I learn from theMathematics stimulation that there is always a solution where you can find atthe optimum point of anything and everything exactly like those parametersexpressed in Mathematics problem. In real life, we always facing several issues(parameters) and at the same time we need to resolve these issues withconstraints and yet we obtained the best solution out of all possiblesolutions. Therefore, you may need this Mathematics equation to work out thebest solution for your problems in hand.
