MEETING AT THE NATIONAL LIBRARY

We visited the National Library on Monday the 1st of October to discuss with Puan Hashimah and her staff on the launching of James Oh book titled Cancer My Wake Up Call. I had not visited the library for at least 2 decades and was very pleasantly surprised that it had expanded with a new headquarters adjoining the National Library. We had arrived at the locked gate of the library and found out that the library was closed to the Public on Monday. James called his contact while I went to ask the guard. The guard told me kindly that the entrance is in front while James was speaking to the staff who was kindly giving instructions on how to get to the car park.

We managed to get the 13th Floor where they guided us into a meeting room and soon the staff arrived as meeting was scheduled at 11 am. Puan Hashimah welcomed us personally and rewarded us with a welcome goody bag containing a mug and details of the library set up. All though our conversation we can sense their welcome to us and kindness was seen as they showed their concern on cancer sufferers and their care givers. They were genuinely hopeful that this book will be a catalyst for can education for all Malaysians and eventually to the world as large as information will eventually be shared on the websites.

We concluded the meeting by noon and I must say I was very impress with the staff' positive attitude and the desire to cooperate to make this launching a successful one. Kudus to Puan Hashimah and her team. Cheers and thank you for being an inspiration to all Malaysians

Review - Cancer : My Wake-up Call by Dylon Wong

Review - Cancer : My Wake-up Call

As I go through this book chapter by chapter, it makes my heart beat faster and faster each time as I anticipated James reaction to his battle with his biggest test of his life, the stomach cancer.

I have the privilege to journey with James as a fellow believer in Christ and God had our path crossed by divine appointment from the moment he was well to the time when he was first diagnosed with stomach cancer.

As a body of Christ, the cell group came together to rally our prayers and support for James and his immediate family throughout the surgery, chemotherapy and healing process. It was not easy to see and hear his ups and downs even though we are not the one facing all the trials and tribulations.

If I may visualise what James went through, it would be like a man sitting in a small boat facing a giant Tsunami wave coming his way. He has got an option, either to row away from the raging waves or to steer his boat in the direction of the waves. James has chosen the latter and I believed he did it because he knew that his maker, Jesus is in the same boat together with him all the time. And with that he had nothing to fear, not even the rampaging Tsunami waves!

His testimony of trust and faith in his almighty God will be a great game changer for many who are suffering from cancer. His determination and supernatural strength will be an inspiration to others so that they can also learn what he went through.

At the end, one single statement that I can draw from reading this book “With God, nothing is impossible!” Trust that you will be blessed by reading James’s honest sharing of his life and struggles. James Oh, the young shepherd boy who defeated Goliath the giant soldier with just a sling and a stone.
