BOOK REVIEW - THE BULLETTRAIN ENTREPRENEUR BY PETER ONG

BOOK REVIEW - THE BULLETTRAIN ENTREPRENEUR BY PETER ONG

I was given this book, The Bullettrain Entrepreneur by Peter Ong, because of being one of the 100 interviewees in the book; through the author’s friend, who is also my long-time friend since primary school.

I have read it and felt it deserve a review. It really stimulates my mind to embrace the 4Bs; strengthening Belief, overcoming Barriers, pushing Boundaries and crossing Borders. We live in a fast pace of rapidly changing business world that demands we adapt to continual change from stakeholders, shareholders, customers; employees, regulators and societies. This book will provide you a sane, solid and sound framework in sustaining business growth and profitability – a new competitive landscape for the new business world.

This book is well crafted with powerful proven illustrations familiar to Malaysians and others around the world, inviting us to give what the writer says serious consideration. Peter Ong does a magnificent job in raising our awareness to adopt and adapt more holistic approach in sustaining our business growth and profitability.

I must confess that I too subscribed to the 5 Ps as stated by the author i.e. Purpose, People, Process, Performance and Profit in building the foundation of my business model, overcoming Barriers to gain strength in every aspect, physical, mental and spiritual. Shaping ourselves to be adept and to accept the new environment is the surest way of obtaining success. Keep learning, unlearning and relearning to navigate our personalized path to our pre-set destiny.

What Peter did extraordinary well is using bullet train as a metaphor. He emphasizes the “secret” of success among SMEs and entrepreneurs is actually comes from the alignment, balancing, and integration of 5 master pillars.

Peter Ong illustrates his points with numerous compelling success stories by prominent business entrepreneurs worldwide. By doing so, we are able to see the entire scene through appropriate lens without being side tracked by the complication of the business process.

"The Bullettrain Entrepreneur" is a timely business book which dares to raise issues often neglected by the majority of entrepreneurs. This book is right for new and existing entrepreneurs who aspire to gain the highest, deepest and broadest perspective on how to sustain long term prosperity in today's changing world. It is not meant to persuade or dissuade you; it’s meant to inform and to inspire you in-gaining appropriate and broad perspectives so that you are much better prepared ahead.

I recommend you accept and follow the new solid foundation towards sustainability of business success as reflected in the title of the book.

To know more concisely and precisely, please pickup the book immediately and read it. Cheers and enjoy your reading.

AN EYE OPENER TO ME

Greeting from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

When I was on my way to the State Library of Victoria, Melbourne, a day after my son’s convocation, I heard loud melody music coming from the street of Swanston. I quickly investigated what the celebration is all about. Guess what? I was really stunned and shocked to find out the parade of key personnel from RMIT and its students with their graduation regalia, the gown and traditional mortarboard cap, along the street. Of course, all these students will receive well deserved recognition for years of hard work and commitment. Their Graduation Ceremony offers the opportunity for them and their loved ones to celebrate a significant milestone in their lives, and the commencement of their professional careers. No surprises that it attracted big crowds of people who also want to participate in this ceremony with cheering from every corner. The environment was amazingly warm. Of course, I have no hesitation to join in by taking some photos.

Append below are some of the lively and meaningful ceremony which I am really being enlightened. I then decided to post an article with some of the colorful photos I have taken. See the students who are happily inviting me to take their photos as if I am a part of them. It is so amazingly awesome to cheer people for their achievements.

My mind actively ponder how nice if everyone has such a spirit to celebrate others’ success. Then everyone is rest assured of peaceful world and better tomorrow. By doing so, this little act will definitely help nurture a healthy environment for us to establish sound and solid relationship between each other rather than spreading those hatred messages that create chaos in this planet.

As such, I urge you to help me spread and sow this good seed around your circle of friends. Thanks you so much for your kind action. Let us give it a serious consideration- if we don’t care, who will. Just like what Confucius said, “A man who moves mountains starts carrying a little stone.” Stone by stone, all majestic building were erected. To a great mind, nothing is too little to be ignored.
