CABIN CREW AND NOT KEVIN KHOO

Recently I received the above joke from my former secondary school's classmate. I had not only a good laugh; but it reminded me of my most memorable aircraft delivery trip to New Zealand which purely comprised of our staff and without Kevin Khoo.

During this journey, I was not only busy paying all the cash bills; but also have to make declaration of cash holding of about USD 40,000.  I was holding the cash at the Brisbane Airport not long after our former Selangor MB's incident. Many people thought I was the owner of the plane as our plane just painted all white without any logo. The question is “Did I look like one?” Haha. Give me your feedback?

The sale of the aircraft was one of the things which helped us turn around the company. It made me fulfill one of my dreams i.e. to be turn around manager. This also caused me to over stay in this company with wealthy experiences. You may read more details at http://liftyouup.blogspot.com/2010/05/hi-friends-further-to-several-articles.html

Another more interesting thing to note is that I too had a chance to sit at jump seat (a seat just behind pilots’ seat) in the cockpit to have a real experience of the plane taking off and landing. Make a guess which is more challenging task to the pilot, taking off or landing? Without my pilot’s license, that is the best seat I can opt.

You see I was not only a passenger but also the cabin crew but not Kevin Khoo. Haha!

Happy reading.

UNFORGETTABLE INCIDENT - THE SUDDEN DEATH OF MY FATHER

Dear families, Friends, Fans and Followers.

After several breakthrough achievements, my courage has accelerated and dare to talk more about things that I rarely discuss before. I am more open to express my feeling publicly in contrast with my introvert nature. I must confess that I have been transformed after all these years of training and readings I have done.

Pardon me if you feel offended of this sort of post, as some of you may feel that it has negative impacts.

One event, I will never forget is the time when I was about to have my bath in the evening in the year 2002 and received a crying call from my sister and was shocked to know my dad had passed away. This news just come out of the blues, for no reason, he was just about 67 (No one knows his actual age due to its underlying story). This came less than a year after my grandmother, from my mother side passed away at 103. My uncle, my mother's younger brother, also passed away at age of 50 plus, a few months later than my father. He was sent to the private hospital and declared dead by the hospital.

Below is the obituary in the newspaper which I have kept for the last twelve years.

We were caught by surprise and the blow was too great. Luckily, NV Multi, the funeral company came to our rescue to be our ‘one stop arranger’ to ferry my late father from the private hospital at Subang to his last stop in Penang 12 years ago. With this, I write to record our sincere thanks to this esteemed company for providing such a resounding solution at the time of need. This incident has impacted me lots.

Just imagine, if not for the service provider, we were totally at a loss at that critical time. I must say that much more hassle and chaos is expected. None of us have such experience in handling all these sort of things and our nature of not expecting such calamity to happen so suddenly.

We must admit that we were stressed out unnecessarily due to lack of experience and lots of protocols to be followed, especially from my mother.

Through this horribly sad and unforgettable event, we do encourage people to learn from this lesson. Pre-plan your last stop of your life to prevent hassle and chaos to the family member left behind, especially for those who chose to follow the traditional protocols.

I do acknowledge the sensitivity of this sort of thing, but it is better to confront and conquer it once at all. By not discussing this matter, you will not be exempted from death. This is part of life.

This event became fresh again after the lapse of 12 years. I feel an obligation to share my experience with others and at the same time hope you too can learn the lesson from it.

Be ready to embrace unlimited belief and set yourself free from all the bondages, false belief and fears that hold you back. Keep venturing into something new so as to be comfortable in the “uncomfortable zone” or “unknown area” or “uncertainty”.

One last thing I have learned is that we are now living in the new world with un-precedented fast pace of changes ever recorded. To enable us to strike we have to adopt and adapt to the new environment.

We have come to the stage that “It Is Not the Strongest of the Species that Survives But the Most Adaptable.” Charles Darwin.

BOOK REVIEW: BECOMING GENERATION FLUX

Dear Families, Friends, Followers and Fans,

I was given the honor to review this eye opening new perspective on Becoming Generation Flux by Miles Anthony Smith

We live in times of uncertainties, fear, doubts and challenges, learning and adapting to the environment at an unprecedented fast pace. It is truly a new experience. This book will provide you a new perspective and prepare you to obtain more technical or other skills that are hard to automate if you want to a successful career.

I received this book in exchange for my independent review only.

This book is well crafted with powerful facts supported by statistics on the contemporary social issues encountered by people not only in the United States but also the rest of the world. It invites us to give these critical issues due consideration. On this notes, Miles Anthony Smith does a magnificent and marvelous job for raising, nurturing and nourishing us to embrace Generation Flux so as to avoid unnecessary stress.

I too subscribe to similar formulae given by the author without realising it i.e. seize the day in areas we control, cede stress in areas we have no control of, and have found it very fruitful. Relax and have fun to gain strength in every aspect, be it physical, mental and spiritual. Shaping ourselves to be adept and to accept the new environment is the surest way of obtaining success. Keep learning, unlearning and relearning to navigate our career path.

Miles Anthony Smith is a positive yet realistic author, illustrating compellingly and convincingly the numerous new trends and social issue caused by income inequality imbalances. In his doing so, we are able to see the entire scene through appropriate lens without being side tracked by chaotic career complications.

"Becoming Generation Flux" is a timely book which dares to raise issues that people normally avoid discussing publicly. However, as for those who aspire to gain the highest, deepest and broadest perspective on how to live in the new world, then this book is right for you. It is not meant to persuade or dissuade you. It is meant to inform, instill and inspire you in gaining appropriate and broad perspectives so that you are much better prepared to take the ride on the waves ahead.

The above book basically comprises of four interesting and inspiring thoughts  which will invite the readers to think deeply about the clouds surrounding today’s world and in which many people are caught in the dark with much of frustration and discouragement facing this generation, well reflected in the title of the book.

The author systematically paints the real scene with facts and figures before he shapes his convincing and compelling arguments. He then crafts the simple and certain approach in Part 1 prior to his sensible urge to stop education madness, a phenomenon in today’s world. He raises several provoking thoughts as to why he said so. He makes an excellent analysis of how education, the workplace and career management are becoming much more fluid and unpredictable. The changing career landscape provokes the readers to take a look at their career transition and what it takes to successfully navigate through their career journey. .

Miles Anthony Smith ultimately offers the sensible yet feasible solution of embracing becoming General Flux before he closes with the bright hopes, relaxing and having fun while charting a new path for your dream job. I adopted similar formula when I was at my cross roads prior to reading his book and I must confess that it is truly workable.

It goes without saying, that one should accept and follow the new career flow as reflected in the title of the book. With this, I hope I have not disclosed too much of this significant book.

To have a much deeper understanding and to apply what he recommends, do pick up a copy of the book as soon as you can and read it. Please don’t take my word for it. Apply the wisdom and know-how in the book wherever applicable for your own sake. Using this appropriate lens of viewing things around you, I can assure you that it will be easier for you to adopt this habit with ease. Cheers and enjoy your reading.
